With darkening skies and a tinge of "Brrr," Notre Dame practiced inside the Loftus Center to get ready for Saturday's game with Navy.
- Just in case anyone thinks Jimmy Clausen is totally healthy, here is a clue he's not. The freshman quarterback was running straight ahead when every other player was doing cross-over drills. With past injuries, that is a sign that all is not right with a player.
- Today's practice antics: wide receiver Barry Gallup Jr. leapfrogged David Grimes and then got into a holder's position. Grimes then pretended to kick a left-footed field goal to the enjoyment of his teammates.
- Wide receivers coach Rob Ianello was doing some sort of bobbing/dancing movements after he was done talking with receiver George West.
- Defensive backs worked on shedding the first blocker and getting to the ball on the option. Makes sense, as the Irish will face a lot of running this week. And we mean a lot.
- The running backs were running into pads.
- Quarterbacks coach Ron Powlus was teaching the quarterbacks how to come out of playaction and then pivot when making their throws. Of course, this is probably just a refresher. One thing we did notice was Weis standing by the quarterbacks and watching them through most of the media portion of practice.
