Chuckie

It really is a rebuilding year. Rebuilding the players. Rebuilding the coaches.

Schultz

i think the best thing that we took from yesterday is that this team will improve enough by november to beat navy, duke, air force and stanford.

i was worried for awhile there that ND could go 1-11 or 0-12.

baby steps...

Lou Petitto

It's not the players
The problem is the coaches!!!

Derf

Why didn't Aldridge & Hughes play more in the second half? Charley had Junior Jabbie try to pick up a first down on a straight ahead push that was made for Hughes.

Michael Rothstein

Derf,
Jabbie was in the game because he is Notre Dame's best blocking back. When the Irish are passing, expect to see him in often.

MR-
Thanks for the comments. As a loyal subway alumnus for about 40 years, how do we answer the critics who are all too happy to blast The Lady on the Dome? The Domers could go 0-12 this year, but I will still try to watch every minute of their games!
Go Irish!

I have to agree with Shultz. Sometimes the decisions that our coaches made puzzled me. I felt that we should have used Aldridge and Hughes a lot more than we did. After the success we had against Michigan State, I was excited to see what we would bring against Purdue considering that Minnesota ran well against them. I don't agree with running Armando Allen between the tackles because he can't break tackles. Those plays are meant for our power runners. I'll cross my fingers and hope that we gel better against UCLA. It will be tough.

~Charlie and Co. need to go. Coaching to the BIGGEST deficiency for this team. The players can't do their best when they are constantly berated and degraded! Charlie may have a high IQ but is a moron in the EQ category. (Emotional quotient) If someone treated his son like he treats his players, he'd have the big one. He has so much to learn about human nature. His players despise him and his attitude. No wonder they can't/won't perform for him.

Richard,

Where do you get that from? What proof do you have that players despise Charlie? Don't come onto a blog and state things that you have no proof of, that's unethical even if you're not a professional journalist - it's actually immoral. Emotional quotient? Go back to the box you crawled out from.

Shawn

Charlie is a great coach struggling to win with inexperinced talent. If the previous coach would have signed more than one offensive lineman in two recruiting seasons, we would be a lot better off. That's a fact.

John

Richard, where do you come off with saying the players despise Charlie? Have you been to practice or sat in the locker room and are privy to the emotions of the players or are you just spouting bullshit? It seems like Quinn, Stovall, Samardjia and fellow teammates performed above their previous levels. Go back under the rock that you crawled out from under.

David

Mike, has anybody actually pressed Charlie Weis for substantive answers about why his special teams are so bad this season and what he's doing to fix them? There's the crap about playing starters on special teams, which doesn't appear to make the special teams any better. It seems like the schemes themselves must improve along with tackling and discipline. I just haven't read an interview or press conference transcript where somebody tried to pry more than a question's worth of response from CW on the special teams. For example, has he been asked whether they need a full-time special teams coach? Has he been asked if he's going to assume responsibility for the whole ball of wax and take it back from the assistant coaches, who don't seem to get the job done? Thanks.

Golden Domer

What is going on with Charlie Jr.? It looks like he might actually be calling the plays. Nobody seems to mention that it is weird that the coaches 14 year old son is wearing head phones and greeting the opposing coaches.

richard

While under my rock, I manage to do a fair amount of reading and listening. I suggest you learn about EQ and how it relates to successful leaders before you go spouting off with unjustified accusations.

EQ accounts for more than 85% of exceptional achievement. Research shows that the more complex the task, the more important is one’s EQ. Dan Goleman's book could provide a lot of perspective about leadership for CW and you too.
