PORT HURON, Mich. -- The Komets trail the Port Huron Icehawks 5-1 at the end of two periods. Fort Wayne is coughing up the puck left and right, not defending well and not getting great goaltending either.
They just don't look themselves. The rink has something to do with it, but more than anything the Icehawks are stifling them and the Komets aren't playing their game. And where is the physical play? The Komets aren't hitting anything. At this point, they might as well get physical and try to get something going.
Meanwhile, the Komets have had a slew of chances at open nets and have done nothing with them. Brandon Warner, Mitch Woods and Terry Marchant all should have scored but were left shaking their heads.

this is really frustrating to watch...

All you can say is LETS GO KOMETS!

I don't want to see PH win on our ice.
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 08:54 PM
Komets won 5-1 Sunday night. Coincidence that PH is winning 5-1 now?
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 08:57 PM
Komets have shown no heart.. Hate to say it, but this plain and simple is NOT the team we watched all season long.
Top of the roster to the bottom should be ashamed of this.

It kinda makes me sick to my stomach. They can still win this all, they just need to find a way to win in PH

a lot can happen in 20 minutes...

In this world there are 2 kinds of people. You are either glass half full or glass half empty. No way to change it just the way it is.
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:01 PM
Do you think they will take Reiter out?
Posted by: Haley | May 07, 2008 at 09:01 PM

Leave him in and let him lay in the grave he's dug us. Keep Boucher fresh for tomorrow.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | May 07, 2008 at 09:03 PM
I was watching Sundays game and I love how Larry said "in case you didn't hear me...KOMETS WIN KOMETS WIN" lol way to go larry.
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:04 PM
I'd say you've got nothing to lose in this game by coming out with Boucher in the 3rd. Sounds like that 2nd goal by Zehr was typical of Reiter coming too far out of the net. Granted, I didn't actually see it, but I have a huch based on how I've seen it described and Reiter's history of coming too far out before.

The rink has something to do with it? Give me a break, they've played there how many times this year?
Suddenly the rink changed between the regular season and the Finals?
Posted by: Danno | May 07, 2008 at 09:08 PM
All we have to do is score a goal every 4 minutes and get this to OT
Posted by: 55kometfan | May 07, 2008 at 09:08 PM
If you read my story today, they had great goaltending in the regular season. That's why they won here.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | May 07, 2008 at 09:09 PM
DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:10 PM
We had better goaltending. Stats prove that. Where is Mr. BEST GOALTENDER IN THE LEAGUE?
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:11 PM
Exactly Cohn. And tonight we don't have goaltending. End of story.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | May 07, 2008 at 09:12 PM
If nothing else the previous posts about this finals being good business to get fans in PH in the seats hopefully pays off to help create another stable fanchise. If the K's can get their act together and win the next three PH will be crushed, but this run should help build their fan base.
Posted by: Keith | May 07, 2008 at 09:12 PM
So, rather than blaming the defense or goal tending you say the rink has something to do with it?
Poor excuse if you ask me.
Posted by: Danno | May 07, 2008 at 09:12 PM
cohn if you had to choose would you say that this is goaltending problem or a defense problem
Posted by: IcyKometsFan84 | May 07, 2008 at 09:13 PM
lets get LOUD tomorrow night. RnR pt.2 lets blow the roof off with it...if theres any time when its acceptable for YOU SUCK its a hockey finals, especially when down 3-1 even if your one of the straight laced folks that has a hard time accepting such a phrase
we cant let them celebrate on our ice
Posted by: JW | May 07, 2008 at 09:13 PM
Sterling just robbed FTW of any chance of getting back in this game!!
WOW!!!!
Posted by: harley | May 07, 2008 at 09:15 PM
If we win we win if we lose we lose people aren't gonna start riots because the komets lost. People will go back to their daily activities. Hockey will still be strong in Fort Wayne next season. We never have to worry about not having a team. So just go out and have fun with it. If we can win tomorrow then that's great but if we lose it won't be the worst possible thing in the world. Win or lose I will still be a Komet fan.
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:16 PM
This could get ugly towards the end of the game!!
Posted by: bertramfan22 | May 07, 2008 at 09:16 PM
Okay.... we're down 5-1. Can't change that now.. But we're playing like a bunch of women.. C'mon!!!!! Kick it in.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | May 07, 2008 at 09:17 PM
pretty sure they will lose on purpose they will want the money from the people in port huron on saturday what do they have to lose they are up 3-1 or will be
Posted by: IcyKometsFan84 | May 07, 2008 at 09:17 PM
so does b2 refund money if one of the teams doesnt show up?
Posted by: homco | May 07, 2008 at 09:18 PM
Yankees are losing too its a conspiracy!!!!!!
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:18 PM
Jungle Monkey,
Don't know if I should laugh or be offended!
:)
Posted by: Haley | May 07, 2008 at 09:20 PM
I think today's game is more about costly turnovers rather than defense or goaltending. Not much defense or goaltending can do when you are turning the puck over that is creating all of these odd men rushed. Chase just summed it up...no one with a K's jersey is using their strenghts that brought them to this point - the heads.
Posted by: Keith | May 07, 2008 at 09:21 PM
yeah the Cubs got shelled today to...so its huge conspiracy...lol
Go Komets!!!
Posted by: janice | May 07, 2008 at 09:21 PM
KometCast sounds horrible too. What a crap night!
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | May 07, 2008 at 09:22 PM
you can also point at the coaching...how can you keep the team going strong for a late season winning streak at home when you are leading the league by so many points but you can't figure a way to consistantly get your team around PH. you can keep the guys focused on a meaningless streak but can't keep them thinking straight to not create these costly turnovers
Posted by: Keith | May 07, 2008 at 09:24 PM
Wonder if PH will leave after the game?
Posted by: harley | May 07, 2008 at 09:25 PM
there are alot of fingers to point at all parts of the game so I don't think you can pin this on one aspect of game or one or two players. this is a meltdown that will be remembered for a long time. And if the K's can bring this series back to a game 7 it would also be the biggest turn around in IHL history.
Posted by: Keith | May 07, 2008 at 09:27 PM
At least the St. Louis Cardinals are winning tonight!!!!
Posted by: harley | May 07, 2008 at 09:27 PM
does anyone else think that legault should be playing instead of durdin or pence?
Posted by: Chad17 | May 07, 2008 at 09:28 PM
See you all tomorrow night. Lets hope they show up tomorrow to play. Lets win this next one.
Posted by: Heather | May 07, 2008 at 09:29 PM
legault is a winger, not defense so it would not make sense to exchange him for one of those people.
Posted by: Keith | May 07, 2008 at 09:30 PM
No. Legault wouldn't do any good in place of either of those guys. And I'd love for Legault to be on the bench to send a message tonight.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | May 07, 2008 at 09:31 PM
yes i would get rid of both and just put legault in
Posted by: IcyKometsFan84 | May 07, 2008 at 09:31 PM
Yes, I dislike Durdin greatly. Legault should be out there.
