Interesting thought. I doubt it, though. Unless they determined he wasn't approprite for their AA affiliate. But if Pat Bingham continues to do the Komets solids, you never know.

First of all not cool to go on another newspaper site and post your story. I see their is a reason you work in Van Wert. Very poorly written article with flawed logic. These guys are professional athletes and many have skated in the NHL. Hodgeman will probably be wearing a Devils or Kings jersey next year. The Komets have been around for 57 years and are a staple in minor league sports nationwide. Do your research next time before coming to the BIG CITY and posting your garbage. BTW, I don't work for Fort Wayne newspapers so this is just my opinion.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves on Hodgeman making it to the NHL. If he is lucky he will have a spot on an ECHL or AHL roster next year. And from there his chances of advancing are as slim as any other of the hundreds of players at that level.
That being said, jumping from juniors to the IHL to the ECHL/AHL in the span of 12 months would be a great accomplishment.

mightbite- i watched larry shake hands with players. not sure if he shook everyones hands but he did shake a bunch...he and hodgman had a small moment shaking hands and talking since they were jawing at each other the whole game. good season mightbite you grew on me buddy

Who is this guy writing the article in Van Wert? And my god why are they letting crap like that be published? The article really had no intended point but seemed to be ramblings of random thoughts. It was also pretty ignorant if you ask me. Ask the 10,000 something fans that sold out the Coliseum and the others who stood around for tickets if they view our team as professionals, because I sure as hell do and I believe they would all feel the same. But really...does anyone know what point that article was really trying to make?

I do wish all the 2007-2008 Komets players luck wherever they wind up. I cannot blame those who leave upon being offered better opportunities elsewhere, but it does hurt. Darn minor league.

And thank you for the continuing coverage of the Komets! It does help with the withdrawal symptoms. Here is something else that might help. I've just finished putting together a slideshow for the photos I took at game #5 vs. Port Huron on May 8. 32 in all, as it were. Sure, some are a bit grainy, but I think they are all interesting. So please check them out. :)

Speaking of other stories anyone see the story in the other paper about the little boy that had brain surgery the same day the boys won the cup? How touching and I heard the night of the auction, some of the players called to check on him! What a great group of guys we having playing for us!!

It was a very touching story! I was reading thru there blog yesterday, seems like they have been thru alot. I can only imagine what they must go thru. Seems like those boys are going to be fans for life! I saw some videos on their blog, one was annoucing players and then one of them playing kitchen hockey, so cute. I wish I could have got them Reynold's sweater. It went way to high the other night. Someone should do something awesome for them. It seems like they go thru alot.I read today that Renyold's was actually going to go to Chicago to visit them in the hospital. What a guy!!! Do they get to come home soon? Someone should get the Franke's to do something big for them, I am sure it was a good story and press for them...

The Komets ARE minor league and to be honest VERY minor league. Even though I am proud of the team for winning, part of me (and I am taking the whole season into account now) just had a hard time with ONE successful team and five others that were seemingly barely hanging on finacially. The Komets are a big FISH in a very little pond and should compete for the cup EVERY season should things stay the way they are now. I just have a hard time taking this league seriously. The new IHL IS just a diversion to me whereas the KOmets of the old IHL was something to get very serious about. Again, that's just my opinion.

Now, I realize this is a democracy but would you please explain why people would pay for a copy from a somewhat newcomer when they can in essence get a copy for free from someone that they've come to know?
