PORT HURON, Mich. -- Greetings and salutations from McMorran Arena. I will admit, I've been one of the harshest on the normally puny crowds for games up here. But this place is buzzing. There was a ton of people, from Fort Wayne and Port Huron, tailgating in the parking lot. And there was a line of Komets fans out the door. This will be exciting.
By the way, no surprise: Kevin Reiter is starting in net for the Komets and Bob Langdon is the referee.

Keys to the Game:
1. Establish physical component!
2. Crash the Net: Get into Sterling's face.
3. Score first
4. Score on Power Play

your right toeblake...if they get in Sterlings face, they could get him off his game, as we saw last night he is a firery guy....

I hope we see a much better effort. Last night really stumps me. I sat there wondering when our guys were going to show up. That was not the Komet team we watched this season. That team last night was lazy at times, was getting out-hustled, turning the puck over constantly, and actually...I will say this...they gave up sometime in the third and mailed it in. That really made me mad. That is so out-of-character for this team. Lets all hope that things are 100% different tonight.
Guys that must step-up tonight or stay on the bench in my opinion are as follows:
PC Drouin...looked pitiful last night and has struggled in the playoffs this year.
Brent Henley...where is the physical Brent? He is way way way too soft for his size these days. Take the body big guy or grab some bench.
Sergei Durdin...no surprise here, but stop panicking with the puck. I saw multiple shifts last night where he alone turned the puck over 4-7 times in a single shift. It happened 4 or 5 times people. That cannot happen anymore. Period!!!
The team must match the physical play and must hustle every shift. There is no way that this Port Huron bunch should be able to outplay us like they did last night. That team is not that good. Donnie Marcutie is playing on their #2 line. That is a joke.
Why are our guys so afraid to mix it up in front of the net, in the corners, and in general? The Border Cats mixed it up all night long. We must out-mix the Flags tonight. That is the key in beating the Beacons. We will win tonight versus the IceHawks with a full-out effort.
Go Komets...Hit Somebody!!!

amen Hit! today is a new day so here's to the K's...remember what it felt like last night and don't let it hit you again tonight!
Our fans sound awesome!

And by the way, I hope the guys know now that this won't be a cake-walk. I heard from more than one source that at least one player was telling people they planned on losing one game so that they could win the cup at home. They better not be so confident. They better play hockey.

Posted by: Heather | May 03, 2008 at 08:04 PM
i agree...they look so much better than last night...
Posted by: Mark | May 03, 2008 at 08:06 PM
Do you guys really think they look that much better than last night? Or is it just because we haven't given up 2 goals? I think we still look very very sloppy. Need more GOOD scoring opportunities like Drouin missing that point blank shot. Thought he had it but Sterling made an awesome save. Did you guys see Margettie sucker punch Henley and Henley did nothing? 2006-2007 Henley would have went nuts on him. 2007-2008 Henley just accepts it from that punk. Ticks me off.

Bob Chase was saying that it looked like more Komet fans than Port Huron fans tonight! That's great!! So much for the theory that the only reason that the Komets have so many fans is because nothing else is within "2-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours away". They don't seem to mind driving the nearly 4 hour trip to Port Huron. You can hear an overwhelming cheering of “Let’s go Komets”!

Posted by: sue ann | May 03, 2008 at 10:00 PM
was that a goal or the right call?
Posted by: sue ann | May 03, 2008 at 10:06 PM
If your announcer thinks Fort Wayne had more fans, he needs glasses. You had two sections, barely more than Flint showed up with. With 3000+ in the building I'll give you credit for 10% of that TOPS. Maybe 300 Fort Lame fans. Good Luck on Sunday.... you're going to need it.
Posted by: TigerDan | May 04, 2008 at 01:57 AM
Well if there was only 300 Komet fans they must have all brought bullhorns, because they were all that anyone could hear (drowning out PH fans) over the radio.
