Late in the second period of a scoreless game, Fort Wayne coach Al Sims has been ejected, apparently for berating the referee. I'm not sure what happened, but it came after Cassidy Preston checked Fort Wayne's Kevin Bertram after an icing call. Still, for this to happen in Game 1 of the playoffs, with the best referee in the league here, doesn't seem like it bodes well for the Komets or that Sims should have been so enthusiastic on the bench.
By the way, it's Sims' 55th birthday.

Common Al! If you're going to get thrown out, atleast throw something, anything, on the ice

I bet he threw a bad word!

don't you have your own blog to comment on?

Justin, Kinda bring this back up from your previous blog. Pool's glove was nasty the last game they played at here. Issac's glove was awful at Muskegon their next contest. It was obvious. Just my perspective, and I'll be honest, that shouldn't mean much!!!
Let's be honest, Al was sending a message this game at sometime. As a coach, he wants his players to know his passion. If they win, or lose, he has built his foundation tonight. He's alot smarter then we are when it comes to knowing his team.

Brendan's always welcome. It was the Bull Durham word, rumor has it here .

I agree with Justin. Brendon's view brings a new prespective and I like it. KOMETS WIN KOMETS WIN KOMETS WIN!!!! I'm sure the B2 feed didn't look as good as what you guys saw it, but still a great playoff hockey game. This is setting up to be a very very fun series. Rumor has it, I might be heading up to skegy tomorrow night Conley holla's back at me!!!

What about Warner? Wow! One of the best games he has played. A nerve racking/exciting/I need a drink game.

If the Fury can keep getting that awesome goal tending, and the komets keep getting bad bounces in front of the net, and the ref keeps the whistle tucked tightly away, and our coach keeps getting kicked out, then i think the Fury have a chance in this series.
Any one of those breaks open and i think the Fury are in for a bad night

Warner almost had 4 goals himself and had one of the biggest hits of the night. Best and most exciting game of the season so far.

An interesting game.... best this season, that would be a NO. Why did Sims get the boot? And why did the Muskegon goaltender keep loosing his mask? Happened twice, I haven't seen that all season, let alone twice in one night. Ref let too much go.... I think the official of the year award went to his head. Overall, a good game. OT was boring, glad we won...

Sims got tossed for telling the ref "you better start calling some penalties you **********." Basically stating that the ref likes roosters quite a bit.

AWESOME GAME!

Oh, is that what he said? :D I was wondering because I wasn't in my seat at the time.
But that was pretty weird in the first period with the all the goals that weren't. Someone got over-eager with the goal light or the goalie lost his mask or someone forgot to say "Simon Says". Strange.

Tense game. Did anyone else notice the goal judges seemed a bit trigger happy on a few of the countless near misses. The Ks were very lucky it was 0-0 after the first period when you consider the Fury had 3 posts and another miss of a completely open net, all in the first period when they only had four shots on goal. Was the ice bad tonight? Didn't Randy get the air conditioning on in time? The pucks were bouncing all over for the Komets and they couldn't get a lucky bounce all night long in the offensive end. I think the Komets rookies and youngsters were great. Some of the vets need to step it up. They looked like they were pressing. Reiter was fighting the puck the first two periods and then saved the day a number of times in the last two periods. You have to hand it to Ramsey and the Fury. They had a great game plan, played it to perfection, and almost stole game one. Great game. One down, seven to go.

Did someone say that the overtime was boring? What game were you watching? 0-0 in the playoffs, bodies flying all over the place, goalies standing on their heads, and THAT IS BORING? It is the playoffs MAN! WOW!

We don't need goal judges, Paul the Zamboni driver knows all.
