MUSKEGON, Mich. -- The fans at L.C. Walker Arena, small in number they may be, are awfully restless. I don't blame them a bit.
Through one period of play, referee Kevin Graber has award eight power plays, six in favor of Fort Wayne. Whatever happened to letting the boys play in the postseason?
In a league that's begging for credibility, having both teams and all the fans flabergasted game after game by the officiating, it just doesn't bode well. It's not just the quantity of calls; it's that no one knows what constitutes a penalty anymore.
Rant over -- because the game has been even stranger. The Komets lead 4-3. It's been sloppy. Lots of turnovers by both teams. Some nice offense, I guess, and non-existent defense. At one point, there were four goals in the span of 44 seconds.
Fort Wayne has goals from Mathieu Curadeau, Luciano Aquino, Sergei Durdin and David Hukalo. Goalie Revin Reiter hasn't got much help and allowed the three goals on five shots.

Ramsey's not happy.
How many in the stands?? 47?

Bob said Warner scored our first goal.
Posted by: donkey | April 23, 2008 at 08:40 PM
Durdin did.

I have an idea... why don't all of the teams raise season tickets $50 per ticket and donate it to the IHL so they can have some money to get some good refs. Graber is awful and Hawthorne is doing the other game tonight. Pathetic

I feel sorry for the guys playing in this game they do not know what is a penalty and what is not. THis guy should not work another game inthe IHL period..He has made the game about him like Hawthorne does...

The K's are now down 2 players tonight as Matthew has gotten tossed
Posted by: ToeBlake | April 23, 2008 at 09:06 PM
Why did Curadeau get bounced?
Posted by: Sherry | April 23, 2008 at 09:08 PM
No clue why he sits Boucher and not Bertram.
Bad decision IMO and I said that pre-game, not just because he letting up WEAK goals.
Posted by: Junior | April 23, 2008 at 09:08 PM
Unbelievable...I VOTE POPPYCOCK!!! This is stressful to watch--has there even been a minute of play with no penalties called?
Posted by: Sparky | April 23, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Don't think it was a punishment for Boucher. Reiter just had a good steak going and Sims wanted to play the hot hand. Doesn't sound like it's working out so hot so far, but the logic was there...
Posted by: Sherry | April 23, 2008 at 09:11 PM
Are they even using goalies tonight? Or are they using 5 gallon buckets on their side?
Posted by: redline | April 23, 2008 at 09:12 PM
I had to go rock my baby to sleep and missed Huk's penalties. Was it really something to get a 10 min. or was it a typical Graber bull crap call?
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 23, 2008 at 09:12 PM
7 for 12
Posted by: Junior | April 23, 2008 at 09:13 PM
Someone needs to take Grabers whistle away from him till he can learn to use it properly. I know what can be done with it but I will keep that to myself.

After looking at the scoreboard for the Port Huron and Flint game, I would just assume have Hawthorne.
Posted by: komets_ducks_fan | April 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM
This crowd is small. And very dumb. The fans are louder to antagonize the refs that they are to cheer on their own fans. And some chick behind us keeps yelling "refs, you suck komets a**" classy
Posted by: homco | April 23, 2008 at 09:31 PM
correction. Cheer on their own "team"
Posted by: homco | April 23, 2008 at 09:32 PM
Hawthorne has only called 7 total penalties. The K's right now are 1-11 on the PP and that alone is keeping Muskgon in this game and the series..Matthew got tossed for a 5 minute Spearing Major and that will be reviewed by the league to see if he gets a suspension. I wish we would put more pressure on their D-man..We need to bang them more
Posted by: ToeBlake | April 23, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Wish I could have made it up to the game, but I ran into car trouble right as I crossed the State Line. So I just got home not to long ago, and I am B2ing it. Be careful on your way back home, and GO KOMETS!

The good people of the Fury can't provide me with working internet, so I apologize if I'm not back until after the game. Talk amongst yourselves. This officiating is a travesty, though.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 23, 2008 at 09:34 PM
Is the officiating this bad in other minor league arena's?
Posted by: jonndfi | April 23, 2008 at 09:34 PM
OK Komets kick Fury a@@.

Posted by: 55kometfan | April 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM
Sims made a mistake putting Reiter in tonight. Shoulda kept the alteration.

David Franke interview between periods, all six teams will be back, it's a lock.
Chicago had more talks with the Sears Center and he said they are looking very strong for next season also.
David said, as best as I can recall, that if he were a gambling man he would consider Chicago in the league next season a good bet.
Posted by: Pixelcraft | April 23, 2008 at 09:49 PM
completely agreed!!!

Posted by: janice | April 23, 2008 at 09:54 PM
What the heck is the use in making an offsetting 2 min penalty call when they just come together and just do some shoving. I have never understood that stupid call!! Graber's an idiot
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 23, 2008 at 09:55 PM
Man, Justin. Have you been possessed by Pat Bingham or something?
