Thought coach Al Sims getting tossed from Game 1 was weird? How about this?
After Muskegon scored, to trim the Komets' lead to 3-2, Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher and defenseman Kevin Bertram came to blows for a couple of seconds in the second peroid. I don't have the benefit of replay and don't know exactly what happened, but I'm guessing Boucher was peeved he was screened on the goal and it blossomed from there. Anyway, strange to see linesmen separating teammates.
Fort Wayne has goals from Mitch Woods and David Hukalo, who stole the puck from Jeff Nelson and scored on a breakaway, in this period.

I'm so sick of watching Hawthorne reffed games...he just doesn't know when to put the whistle away and let them play..

another 5 on 3 pp goal for the Fury...thier 3rd of the night...incredible..

3rd period bring out REITER REITER REITER REITER
Posted by: JW | April 19, 2008 at 09:14 PM
Just when you thought you have seen it all. Wow! Bouche needs p sit out third period. Oh the fans here are awesome! Almost five fights in the stands to date. This is crazy.
Posted by: Conley | April 19, 2008 at 09:15 PM
That last 5 on 3 wasn't on Hawthy, it was on the Komets taking dumb calls!!! Get it together and come out on fire in the third!
Posted by: Hoss | April 19, 2008 at 09:15 PM
Justin,
If you were Sims would you verbally undress Boucher for that? It appeared he went right after Bert physically and probably running his mouth. In my opinion that should never happen and he should be sent to the showers early, Boucher that is. Totally classless.
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 09:15 PM
justin. Have you any insight as to what the teammates have to say about Boucher. This has happened before, never a fight. But words. It can't be good for morale. Too bad he has such a short fuse because he is good.
Posted by: homco | April 19, 2008 at 09:18 PM
Mr. Boucher, classless act. You need to sit a few games buddy.
Posted by: Joe | April 19, 2008 at 09:21 PM
(3) 5 on 3 goals, that has to be some kind of record. Hawthorne usually lets them play in the third unlike the first two periods where he tries to keep the score even. let's see if he stays true to form.
Please send pickard an e-mail at the end of the season, i plan on it, just going to let him know how i liked this season but.....i just don't enjoy attending games that hawthorne refs, hawthorne just doesn't get it.....and yes i would say the same of we were up 9-1.
Posted by: Burgee | April 19, 2008 at 09:22 PM
If it happened in a game, let alone a playoff game, I am sure it has happened at practice.
Posted by: Hoss | April 19, 2008 at 09:22 PM
Boucher is intense and emotional. My opinion? They're both at fault. Bertram should have just told him to stow it and skated away. I thought about pulling Boucher, but I don't think that was bad enough to warrant it. I'd love to be in the locker room right now, though. Two fiery guys can = trouble.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 19, 2008 at 09:24 PM
I think their has been just as much drama in out section as their has been on the ice. There is always a bad seed and tonight he is sitting right in the middle of our section
Posted by: homco | April 19, 2008 at 09:26 PM
the boys just need to let it go and go out and play their game in the third. Stay out of the box and let Muskegon make their typical mistakes. Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves.
Posted by: Sidney Crosby | April 19, 2008 at 09:26 PM
Yeah, homco, what happened down there?
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 19, 2008 at 09:30 PM
B2 finally responds at 8:49 PM, think i'll get a refund? nahh
Posted by: Burgee | April 19, 2008 at 09:30 PM
What the H***!!
Why are those 2 going at it??? That's ridiculous!
Posted by: Junior | April 19, 2008 at 09:30 PM
justin, you mean if you had a teammate come at you and lord knows what he was spewing you would just skate away? BTW, it looked to me like Boucher threw the first punch, I could be wrong though.
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 09:33 PM
now no sound on the B2, unbelievable.
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 09:34 PM
They killed the mike at the end of the second, I think because of comments being made, and obviously they haven't turned it back on...
Guess these guys need a check list.
Posted by: Pixelcraft | April 19, 2008 at 09:39 PM
Hoss...can you send now???
Posted by: janice | April 19, 2008 at 09:48 PM
in the middle of a playoff game? I would have told him to shut his yap and go back to the bench, yeah, not start throwing punches. That sends a good message to the other team.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 19, 2008 at 09:51 PM
1-10 right now on PP and have another PP that is the problem right there. We are out shooting them 2-1 but not quality shots just like last night. We are letting a team play us even and we owned them in the regular season.
Posted by: ToeBlake | April 19, 2008 at 10:07 PM
justin you are right, but Boucher must have had something pretty offensive cause Bert seems to be pretty laid back
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 10:08 PM
Sorry Ellie, I just checked back in. That blew!
Posted by: Hoss | April 19, 2008 at 10:12 PM
YOU NEED TO RIDE ONE GOALIE IN THE PLAYOFFS!! I must sound like a broken record, but ecspecially here where Boucher's temper can get him into trouble! He never seems to take the fault for a goal and that is just wrong!! Ride Kevin like a horse the rest of the way!!!!!
Posted by: harley | April 19, 2008 at 10:15 PM
Sit both of those 2 babies. 2 guys on the same team should not be acting that way. This is the type of crap that causes even the best teams to implode and will spark momentum in the other team.
Disgraceful!!!
Bench both of them.

any one else get screwed over on the b2 network? it kept telling me they would send me an email and i still haven't gotten one but my $7 was sure taken out of my account!!
Posted by: Harley | April 19, 2008 at 10:18 PM
1-15 on the powerplay with the "fire" power we have is not going to cut it. We had 4 power play opprotunities in the 3rd period and got nothing. We are not doing enough in front of the net to cause enough havoc. We have had 81 shots on goal to Muskegon's 38. Those shots we indicate that we are "dominating" them, but we are not because a lot of those shots are from the outside and Muskegon has done a good job of clogging up the middle.
Posted by: ToeBlake | April 19, 2008 at 10:22 PM
Harley, call your credit card company, the sooner the better and they will investigate the charge and should refund it.
Posted by: Burgee | April 19, 2008 at 10:24 PM
HS-
I say sit Boucher...he was the one who started it by throwing a punch at him...I agree with riding Reiter the rest of the way...
Hawthorne needs to not ref another game...absolutely no flow to the game at all.
Komets pp is horrible right now...they are making the Musky PK look really good..
The Fury are doing exactly what Chaulk said he would do, they are putting pressure on the puck on the PP and its not allowing Dupuis or Drouin to get clean shots off..let alone recieve a clean pass..nice job by the Fury for doing that, but, I really think that officating cost the Komets this game. You can sit here and tell me that the Komets just kept committing these penalties. Especially while they are all ready killing a penalty. I'd rather have Langdon who seldoms calls a penalty than a ref who calls them all the freakin time and gives a team three 5 on 3 PPs in the same period..give me a break.
Posted by: Mark | April 19, 2008 at 10:25 PM
we need to have more guys charging the net with the rebounds that reicmuth gives up. i watched the replay of last nights game and he was giving up some pretty hefty rebounds!
Posted by: bertramfan22 | April 19, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Blake says the Fury's 4th goal didn't cross the line. Anyone have a take?
Posted by: Shawn | April 19, 2008 at 10:25 PM
anyone else think #82 should have stayed and #8 should have been let go?
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 10:26 PM
to heck with this goalie rotation situation...its playoff time...you have a hot goaltender..you keep him in it...thats totally ridiculous...and boucher always B****** about every tiny goal that goes in...maybe he should step up and play the game..and not worry about what happend..its one thing to let ur defensemen know whats wrong but to go after him is another!!
Posted by: kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 10:27 PM
I too had trouble signing into the B2. I did not get on until about 5 minutes left in the 1st period. Then in the third period I had no sound.
GO KOMETS!!!!!!!!
I was really shocked to see Bouch & Bert going at each other. Thats not good! What were they thinking? I would say Bouch had it coming since he always blames the "D"men anytime/everytime that he gets scored upon. He needs to be put in his place.
Posted by: Melissa Sarrazin | April 19, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Honestly I don't think we need to start thinking the Komets are going blow this series, it's one loss and that's it. Al does needs to address some things starting with the embarrassment that went on between Bert and Boucher and the PP. Al should be really embarrassed and ashamed if he doesn't address my first issue.
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 10:30 PM
boy..why is everyone riding Durdin..sure he makes his fair share of mistakes, but holy cow, every time the Komets lose its Durdins fault. I do not believe he was on the ice for any of the goals tonight..but I could be wrong..
I agree...Reiter should be starting from here on out
Posted by: Mark | April 19, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Reiter will start tomorrow and I would not be surprised if he starts on Wed as well.
Posted by: Shawn | April 19, 2008 at 10:32 PM
all i have to say is sunday's game is a must win for the komets or we are in trouble!! Did i mention that we need to keep Reiter in goal? HA HA!!!
Posted by: harley | April 19, 2008 at 10:33 PM
It's 1 game people....last I checked, it's a 7 game series, no one said it was gong to be easy.
Nothing wrong w/ the goalies, the players, take a deep breath.
Tomorrow we have an opp. to put the series back in our favor.
Drink some beers and get rowdy!!!!!
Posted by: Junior | April 19, 2008 at 10:34 PM
I don't drink beer
Posted by: Mark | April 19, 2008 at 10:35 PM
guess i will have to look on you tube for the bertram-boucher bout, eh?
Posted by: bertramfan22 | April 19, 2008 at 10:35 PM
at least we get another Friday home game
Posted by: Burgee | April 19, 2008 at 10:35 PM
Durdin wasn't on the ice for sure on 1 of their goals because he was in the penalty box when he committed a stupid penalty while we were on the PP which ultimately led to a Fury goal.
Posted by: 55kometfan | April 19, 2008 at 10:35 PM
speaking of beer, did you see they were still serving beer into overtime last night? i went to the bathroom after the third and i don't think there was a sober guy in there!!
Posted by: harley | April 19, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Sucks that the Komets lost one, but hopefully it is a wake up call. They just need to get out there and do what they did all season long. I do agree, however, that they should be riding the hot goalie, who, right now, is Reiter. Now we just need to get some fans out there. Fill the MC tomorrow and let's help our boys to a 2-1 series lead!!! GO KOMETS!!!
Posted by: Kris | April 19, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Armchair quarterbacks creating mass hysteria by second guessing everything under the sun. Shocker.
Whatever happened to remaining confident in this team? THIS team of all teams I might add. The team that received so much praise all season now starts to get thrown under the bus for one loss, one that could be debated at that. Gosh, some of you make some of the dumbest comments.
Posted by: scoops | April 19, 2008 at 10:45 PM
I have perfect vision and that game should have gone to overtime! The Komets just didn't bring it. Guess who I got stuck by? Oh my gosh I would not claim her at the flea market and her date agreed. I think it was their first and last time going out.
Posted by: Conley | April 19, 2008 at 10:46 PM
Justin said Komets in 5. I am sure the K's will prove him right. Tomorrow should be an interesting game.
Posted by: Shawn | April 19, 2008 at 10:46 PM
Hey to all who traveled to the game tonight. Let's switch to across from 106 to get away from all the crap we put up with tonight. I talked to a guy who came to the fort last night and coming tomorrow and he said we are welcome over there. Just a thought. That's what I'm doing for Wednesday.
