Still no word from the International Hockey League on whether Colin Chaulk will face any sort of suspension for leaving the bench during an altercation, during Sunday's 7-3 victory over the Muskegon Fury.
The Komets lead the best-of-seven semifinals series 2-1.
- I got an e-mail from former Komets forward Bobby Stewart, who wanted to pass along good luck to this year's team in the playoffs. Check this out. His Brantford team just won the Allan Cup, after a tournament of AAA teams from across Canada. Also on his team: Former Komets Brent Gretzky and Chris Grenville.
- And, let it never again be said that the Komets don't read Ice Chips. I got the following e-mail from the Komets, who have noticed all the interest on our beloved site and apparently want to get you readers involved. (By the way, last weekend's Ice Chips readership was at an all-time high, so thanks for reading.)

I know I'm gonna get the first seat, or is that the last seat? Which one do I want? All I know is it will be hard to push me out of a chair!!! I'm starting to practice my game right now. I have a cardboard cutout of Shaw, Hit, Monkey, Justin, and Scoops set up in chairs right now. (The one of Scoops has been set up all year long since I love him so much!!!) That stick is mine!!!!

That's GREAT!!
Make sure you post the guys that make it, I'll be laughing my butt off the entire intermission.

I think I am going to have to sit this one out. It's a disaster waiting to happen for me on ice. Just isn't smart idea. I will ref from the bleachers though!! I will Hawthorne all of you. There will be flow to this musical chairs game!!!

After reading this write up of one of the games in the above mentioned Allen Cup games I have to wonder if Jim Hawthorne was refereeing :-)

Wonder if Super Fan will make an on-ice appearance...Maybe the feature match will be Cohny v. Super Fan. I'd pay money to see that one. Cohn would roll him.

Neat video with highlights of the season.

My goodness, there was a reference to Ron Baker "the excitement maker" in that Allan Cup story.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 21, 2008 at 10:34 PM
They had to play 5 games in 6 days, interesting.
Posted by: Shawn | April 21, 2008 at 10:46 PM
I replied, so we'll see...
Just don't have an actual seat number to tell them yet.

Super Fan = Blakes. Hope everyone knows that. You know, the blogmaster that decided to only run his blog 2 months a year and claims he is not a fan of the Komets, even though he writes books about the Komets and falls in love with the worst players on the team every year.(Guinn, Kiyaga, Townsend, Jorde, etc.) Colin Chaulk called him out 2 seasons ago and called him....SUPER FAN. I apologize in advance for telling that story.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | April 21, 2008 at 11:05 PM
When did chaulker call him super fan? I was wondering where that came from. Is there anywhere i can see the interview or anything?
HAHA oh man good ol'chaulker
Posted by: Andy | April 21, 2008 at 11:19 PM
I will find it.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | April 21, 2008 at 11:40 PM
I found it, not sure if I am allowed to post the quote here or not....I need guidance from Justin on this one.

Thanks for posting the video Jared...I will be working on another if the Komets win then series then maybe one more if they bring home the cup. Stay Tuned! lol.

You can check it out now Andy. Enjoy.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | April 22, 2008 at 12:01 AM
HAHA thanks Hit, i always thought you and blake had a love hate relationship. ;)
Posted by: Andy | April 22, 2008 at 12:08 AM
It is mostly hate on his part. I am banned from his league for life. He doesn't like open discussion and light-hearted teasing and fun. He mostly likes to type his opinions and everyone goes along with him and sucks up to him.
Justin is the only game in town, in the league, and on the internet. Justin gets it. He puts great efforts into making this the best blog of its kind. It is always thought provoking, interesting, informative, open for debate, and fun. Sometimes people get out of hand and get a little too passionate from time to time, but he allows them to get it out, and is good about cooling them off and allowing them to calm down. He truly does a marvelous job. We all should be grateful and lucky to have such a great guy covering our favorite team and providing us an avenue to pursue and talk about our team...no matter what Scoops might think should or shouldn't be talked about. At least now we know who his daddy is...lol. Only kidding Scoops.
Great Job Justin!!! You the man...MAN!!!

I signed up for the contest. We'll see if I registered in time or not....sounds like this could be, ehh....interesting.

Blake only turned his blog back on because he is working on another book and what better way to promote it.
Posted by: Nobrainer | April 22, 2008 at 02:57 AM
Hit and Justin sitting in a tree....
I kid because I love!
That is the best video I have seen about the Komets! I'm sitting here in my boxers getting the "Let's Go Komets!" chant going in my den...pretty pic in your head right now, hun?
Posted by: Hoss | April 22, 2008 at 06:23 AM
My Lucky Charms are coming back up, Hoss.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | April 22, 2008 at 07:53 AM
Blake only opened his blog cause he couldn't find some ex-komets and wanted everyone else to do his research.
Thank You Justin
I don't know what I would do at work if i didn't have this blog
Posted by: IcyKometsFan84 | April 22, 2008 at 09:13 AM
Look at it this way folks..
The over 55 crowd needs a place to blog in CAPS LOCK. Let Blake cater to them.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | April 22, 2008 at 09:26 AM
Great story on Hodgeman!! I would love to see him back next year but he sounds persistant on returning to Erie Otters. Hope the Frankes can get him to change his mind...maybe when he sees some of the people he plays with here move up next year he will change his mind
Posted by: IcyKometsFan84 | April 22, 2008 at 10:01 AM
Woot...I got picked to do the contest...I hope Hoss is nice to me...
Posted by: Janice | April 22, 2008 at 11:03 AM
OK, OK, lay off Blake. Let's talk hockey.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 22, 2008 at 11:11 AM
Ron Baker "the excitement maker".
HAHAHAHA! O my god! That has to be the funniest (yet most absurd) thing I have every heard!!!!!!!
Posted by: Nasty Dangles | April 22, 2008 at 11:21 AM
Colin Chaulk got a one game suspension.
Posted by: RIck | April 22, 2008 at 11:24 AM
1 game...I can live with that.
Posted by: Nasty Dangles | April 22, 2008 at 11:27 AM
I guess they had to give him something; At least it's not 10 games
Posted by: RIck | April 22, 2008 at 11:28 AM
Is Chaulk allowed to be behind the bench tomorrow since he is the assistant coach?
Posted by: scoops | April 22, 2008 at 11:35 AM
I can live with the one game, maybe it will give him some time o deal with his stuff. Does he get to coach on the bench, or does the one game cover coaching as well?
BTW Jancie, you are going down at musical chairs!!! It's on bloggers!!!!
Who else do I need to knock out to get the auto stick?
Posted by: Hoss | April 22, 2008 at 11:39 AM

Scoops, that's scary...we are thinking alike!
Posted by: Hoss | April 22, 2008 at 11:43 AM
Now why does it double post onetime, but not the next?
Posted by: Hoss | April 22, 2008 at 11:43 AM
The Ron Baker "excitement maker" was coined by Dave Benson. Remember him?
Posted by: Justin Cohn | April 22, 2008 at 11:49 AM
They picked me too...this should be interesting.
Posted by: FWKRTJ | April 22, 2008 at 11:59 AM
Ahhh yes, Dave Benson, he did an article for the Kevin Bertram Fanclub years back...whatever happened to him?
And why on earth did he consider Ron Baker an excitement maker? I hope that is sarcastic.
Posted by: Nasty Dangles | April 22, 2008 at 12:11 PM
I don't feel he should have gotten any suspension. We were pulled over on the way to musky last Saturday going 12 over. The trooper told us to slow it down. That's all. The league did not have to suspend him.
Posted by: Conley | April 22, 2008 at 12:34 PM
wow great analogy
Posted by: Nasty Dangles | April 22, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Conley, Hoss, FWKRTJ, and everyone else are going down! I've been practicing sitting all my life..I've the the size advantage to sneak into the small spaces..BRING ON THE PAIN!
Posted by: Brandon | April 22, 2008 at 01:16 PM
All I hear is yap yap yap. Since Shaw is out with an acl tear I will just use my special tactics I have been working on all of yall. Man that stick will look nice next to my trash can.
Posted by: Conley | April 22, 2008 at 01:24 PM
I would doubt that Chaulk makes the trip, he has too much going on off the ice right now and is needed more at home then behind the bench...take the trip off and take care of business which I'm sure he will
Posted by: Brandon | April 22, 2008 at 01:45 PM
I am in for the musical chairs also. However, beginning to have second thoughts because of the injury factor being greatly increased by any drinks consumed during the game.
