We already know that with seven shutouts, Kevin Reiter is one off the Komets' single-season record of eight shutouts. I just looked this one up -- the International Hockey League record is 10, set by the Cincinnati Mohawks' Charlie Hodge in 1953-54.
Amazingly, no other goalie in the IHL has more than one shutout this season. I find that amazing and I don't know if it speaks to the competitiveness or the lack thereof in a six-team IHL. Even more unbelievable is that only one team (Fort Wayne) has won more than three straight games on home ice. (The Komets are in the midst of a 15-game streak at Memorial Coliseum.)
On the other hand, there have been four players to record points in at least 12 consecutive games, led by the 13-game streaks of Kalamazoo's Kory Karlander and Nick Bootland. Speaking of which, note to the IHL, can we take Brian Felsner's point-scoring streak of 11 games off the active list? He's playing in Europe.
Also, no team in the league has had a losing streak longer than Kalamazoo's seven-game slump of mid-January.

Hey Justin- have you noticed how bad the IHL web site is? There are times I want to access the "ticker" with game scores and it brings up an error page. After hitting refresh a couple of times, it finally makes it. I figured the shutout record would be more than 12 games. How many did St. Pierre have last year?

I believe me and the girl are going up on Sunday. Probably will be a buy tickets at the door type of thing. Seems like tickets to this game are a bit hard to get on the glass. Not normal for a Sunday Kwings game!!! I'm hoping to get over the penalty box area!!! I love getting the Kwings fans business!!

Posted by: morency fan | February 19, 2008 at 04:06 PM
I might be all wet but Jerad why do you think the Komets would get you a bus to go to the game in Flint?!?
Posted by: New Komet Fan | February 19, 2008 at 04:20 PM
It was a suggestion that we take a fan bus to Flint. They have had bus trips like this before. I just thought it would be fun for everyone to go up to the season finale and show our support. Obviously, there would be a charge for tickets and the trip, but if we get enough people, it could be fairly cheap.

FYI:FWFD/FWPD hockey team will be playing against Summit Fire in K'zoo prior to the Komets/Wings game on Sunday.I believe admission is free but don't quote me on that.Game time is 1:30. More bang for your hockey buck if your interested.

how about we pool everyone for the playoffs and take over everyones arena with a massive effort
we have the reg season under control. we have enough time to plan a mean playoff road trip takeover.
Posted by: JW | February 19, 2008 at 04:46 PM
Can you take beer on the bus? Also is this a overnight trip?
Posted by: mightbite | February 19, 2008 at 06:06 PM
I think an overnight trip would end up being pretty expensive. For rental of a bus/tickets, we go to Milwaulkee every year for 120 bucks a person. One game with a bus ride to and from would be great. I would prefer a bus right where beer would be allowed. Not sure what everyone else is wanting. Maybe back of the bus is the beer drinkers!!! If we get enough interest, I will delv into it more. Justin will have to ride the fan bus!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | February 19, 2008 at 08:16 PM
Let me explain myself a bit better. Myself and a bunch of people go to Milwaulkee every year. Leave Friday @ noon and come back Sunday @ 10. We go to one baseball game plus tailgating food. That adds up to 120 a person. I just sent a quote out to 2 Ladies One Bus. They do a great job with trips. I'm guessing if we could get 40 people to go, we could do the bus part of it for around 20 dollars a person, if not less. That would still leave tickets though. Just a thought.

I would love to go to that season finale in flint!! sounds like a great idea...
Posted by: kometfan | February 19, 2008 at 10:28 PM
I agree with what JW said. We will have a good chance of playing Flint and Kzoo. We should just take over their arena for the playoffs. I know a lot more "common fans" would love go go to the first round of the playoffs in a bus if they are in Kzoo.
Posted by: Andrew | February 19, 2008 at 10:39 PM
I agree with you in certain aspects Andrew. It is not offcial who we are playing in that first round. If we play KZOO in the first round, then there is no reason to get a bus. We could all meet up with each other via our own travel. If we play Flint in the final, then I'm sure the Komets will figure out a bus trip during the playoffs. This is being planned by Komets fans for the last game of the Reg. season to show the dedication. I have no qualms with going on a playoff road trip, but as fans, we are trying to get this together for a definate road trip that not alot of Komets fans have been on.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | February 19, 2008 at 11:53 PM
I doubt that the bus trip would be sponsored by the Komets- I really can't remember when they sponsored the last trip. Not sure they want to get involved in that. What ever happened to the Komet hockey club that was started a few years ago?
Posted by: jonndfi | February 20, 2008 at 12:16 PM
I saw everyone who wants to go coordinate together and buy a block of tickets together. Plan to take 3-6 people per vehicle and everyone chip in for gas. Have a dd (which I normally am) and go from there. It is a lot cheaper and more fun. You can take stops as needed. Also would be a bit cheaper most of the time. I am game for any road trip anytime so if anyone wants to go let me know and I will drive or chip in for gas. Get travel buddies. Have a great one...if anyone has space I will go with them to K-zoo. Jerad that included you and the wife...if you go let me know.
