Here's video of Justin Rohr's hit on Kevin Hansen. How this stuff winds up on youtube.com amazes me.
Brad Jones, the IHL's vice-president of hockey operations, is mulling whether or not a suspension is warranted and will make a decision later today or Friday.

Justin, any word on if Woods will get suspended for anytime for the slash on Ftorek?? Seems like forever ago with this packed week of hockey.

Woody is in the clear, no suspension is forthcoming.

Darn, I just lost a bag of skittles to Tom.

check this out. Another minor hockey league in the Midwest. http://www.themwhl.com/about.php

Wow, that's crazy. I wonder what cities are going to be involved?
Posted by: Junior | January 03, 2008 at 07:11 PM
yeah no kidding thanks for the link
Posted by: JW | January 03, 2008 at 07:35 PM
If this league does start there will be a Mid Atlantic Hockey League and a Mid West Hockey League both at the “A” level, seems redundant to me.
Posted by: Shawn | January 03, 2008 at 07:54 PM
Have you heard anything about this league, Justin? Seems to directly target the IHL market. Who would be behind this? Wonder what Komets management think of the competition...
Posted by: Sherry | January 03, 2008 at 08:49 PM
League Merger with them? Jared....mmmmmm Skittles...payable in full the weekend of the Flint road trip...lol. Good luck Friday Komets. See all of you Saturday where we finally will have a Sat. game with "no bad weather"?

The Midwest Hockey League has been in the works for a few years now trying to get a league going. They announced over last summer I think they were going to start in Fall of 2008. Yes I think they should rather merge with the Mid Atlantic hockey League or even try to pul lsome teams here but people are just trying to make money.
Posted by: lovelost | January 03, 2008 at 10:02 PM
Wow...Talk about confusing. Wouldn't this MWHL muddy the waters a tad-bit? Single A hockey in the same geographical locations that the IHL is currently working in? What is the story here Justin? Any word out of the IHL office or from the Frankes? The IHL is looking to expand into more cities over the next few years...and now this?
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | January 03, 2008 at 11:46 PM
If teams want to make money, they will join up with the IHL. We already know that Indy is interested. Its a matter of time before all the locals join us!!! I can't wait in 5 years, when this league has such a base, everyone comes calling. We aren't European hockey, and our product will sell. Just enjoy the product on the ice, cause it will just get faster the longer this league goes, and I don't know if JW or Chickett will be able to follow

Good thing Hansen was only hit by a midget
Posted by: Canuck | January 04, 2008 at 12:00 AM
How about the MWHL, MAHL, & SPHL join the IHL.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 04, 2008 at 12:23 AM
Ya know, after seeing that video, it doesn't look to be as dirty as everybody was saying in the comments under "Whoa, that was dirty". Hansen was just getting rid of the puck when he got hit, so its not like he was on his way to the bench yet (though that's probably where he was headed as soon as he dumped it in).
I'll admit I wasn't at the game, so I couldn't judge the tension in the air before or after, nor observe the attitude of the offending Fury player or his bench, but from what my Dad told me (he was at the game) and from the video, it doesn't look to be an intentionally cheap shot. Don't get me wrong, my heart and my prayers go out to Kevin and his family and I hope he has a speedy and full recovery, but I'm just not being so quick to call it a cheap shot.
Rebuttal, anyone? I'll be glad to hear you out.

Teams in the mid atlantic league are getting about 200 fans per game.
Posted by: gerry | January 04, 2008 at 05:34 AM
Ya, and some of them aren't getting paid.
If they want to model off of anything, they should use the single A SPHL. They are averaging around 2,500 a game. You don't have to pay the players nearly as much, so that league may be making money somehow.
I'm curious where they are thinking about going in S. Michigan? Coldwater?

Thats not cool. What is with the cursing? Please don't curse on here. Go curse when you are around your 12- and 13 year friends. I don't have a problem with dissing on the K's just watch the dirty talk.

Justin take care of these 2 please. I think one of them has been warned before and I think one of them was the one that caused Blake's to shut down his blog.

I don't know how many of you guys have been following the MAHL but they are taking markets that are so small that wouldn't be able to support a 'AA' franchise. The MAHL arenas are no bigger then the Blue Rink @ McMillian. There is nothing to be worried about with this new league taking franchises from the IHL
Posted by: Andrew | January 04, 2008 at 11:20 AM
I was going to say the same thing about somebody using lovelost's name. I don't believe it's him either.
Posted by: Greg | January 04, 2008 at 11:41 AM
I think you guys are right. Lovelost true name is linked to his "Myspace" page. the one above is not.

I really wish that people would make more of an effort to express themselves without having to use the foul language. This blog is a forum to discuss Komet Hockey and topics related to hockey....not a forum to attack one another or to display a lack of manners and civility.
To those who want to act like this, please find another forum to vent your limited vocabulary and let the rest of us who WANT to discuss hockey do so in a respectful and friendly enviroment.
Thank You,
Bob

Well said Bob.
I also don't think that it was lovelost.
Posted by: Junior | January 04, 2008 at 12:16 PM
I don't think the MWHL will take away from any hockey markets in the IHL. It would be nice to have a somewhat local league like the SPHL to get a lot more players involved in the US.

Just spoke to somebody at the journal gazzette and it sounds like justin is out so he is going to pass the message to somebody who oversees the blogs to get those posts removed because I know there are younger people who visit this site and I really dont want them to think this is acceptable behavior.......

Wow, that was fast!!!! Cudos to the I.T. dept.

I missed the comments but Kudos to everyone for getting it corrected. I sometimes read the blog at school and don't want to get yelled at for having the crap on my computer screen. GO KOMETS? Any words on the possible suspension or not?
Posted by: Tom | January 04, 2008 at 01:05 PM
Sorry all I missed this. I'm in Detroit with the family for the day. As a friendly reminder, I will ban people for going past the lines of decorum here. Thanks to Tom for cleaning up whatever I missed.

Mother Theresa,
May I suggest that you post your remarks on "The Litter Box" forum on the ITB website. This is NOT the place for the topics you want to discuss.

RIGHT - ON !!! You are right Bob , kids & adults read this blog . No place for it.
