Here's a look at today's story on Luciano Aquino. Aquino has a chance to be one of the best players to come through Fort Wayne in years and I think coach Al Sims sees that, explaining why he's sometimes tough on his star.
- There's a story out of The Bloomington Pantagraph, in which coach Derek Booth explains why his stars keep bolting for Europe. It's nothing new for European teams to overpay for North American talent. Strange, though, that every team in the International Hockey League isn't losing players left and right, so I'm not completely buying his explanations about it being purely financial.
- Click here to read some rare criticism out of The Muskegon Chronicle on the direction the Fury is headed.
- Former Detroit Red Wings star Darren McCarty was scoreless and minus-1 in his debut with the Flint Generals, a 5-4 loss to the Fury today.
- Gary Cook, who orchestrated the Thunder Bay championships in the former Colonial/United Hockey League, has died.
- A coach and a sportswriter? Hmm, I'd better go update my resume.

Wow, The worst part about the night is that Reiter has played very well all night. The same thing as we have had all year is that our forwards aren't getting back. The thing about it is, they are giving the puck up on our offensive side and not getting a chance to get back. Let's be honest, I am a very positive guy, but I am just commenting about this game. Reiter has nothing to do with the final tally of this. He went above and beyond the call of duty tonight. Our defense let him down.

I'm logging off. Good night to you guys

K's take a one goal game on the chin. Had the win, but let off the gas mid way through the 2nd.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 10:26 PM
4 straight goals in the 3rd period to Bloomington. That is nothing to be happy about. Where did the defense go? Did they get the lead and put it into cruise control and stop playing hockey? 60 minutes is a hard thing for this hockey team. How many times this year have we seen them not come out the first period, but tonight they had a lapse in the third. Hope this was just a bad night. Get back in gear Friday night and start rolling again.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | January 09, 2008 at 10:27 PM
king kong henley never woulda let this happen. after the second goal he woulda been fixin to put a whoopin on someone.
Posted by: abeatenhorse | January 09, 2008 at 10:29 PM
It seems to me that once the Komets get ahead by a few goals, they just quit playing. They act as though they already have the win. Reiter played a strong game and again was let down in the 3rd by his defense. This is very disappointing. I hope the boys can come out strong on Friday and play a whole 60 minutes of hockey.
Posted by: William | January 09, 2008 at 10:33 PM
Hit Somebody, did you watch the game??? If you didn't watch then don't comment on it. I realize you are the god of all that knows hockey, but unless you watch the play on the ice, don't be critical. I watched the game, and we played well throughout. If we got a little lacksadasical (SP), that wasn't from the Komets. They pushed the issue tonight and they got caught in bad postiion because of that.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 10:34 PM
Jerad I would not say anything negative about Hit Somebody. You do not want to make him angry.
Posted by: Headly Lamar | January 09, 2008 at 10:36 PM
I'm not trying to make anyone agree. After a loss, he is one of the 3 people on this board that tries to make an issue. I'm tired of hearing him pushing the weight around. Thats all. Sorry Justin, but I had to block the flood gates!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 10:41 PM
there are definitely some know-it-alls that post on here and it does get a little annoying sometimes because we are all fans of the same team and alot of times the know-it-alls do try to push around people because of their "supreme knowledge"...if this is a site for komets fans then i am going to keep coming back... if its a place for hockey-know-it-alls to to make their opinions and thoughts seem like the only right one then so be it, have fun

Jerad...High School hockey this year has very even teams (except North Side). With the exception of North Side, all the teams are within like 6 points of eachother. There are about 5 weeks left then the playoffs start. You want more info hit me up.
Posted by: Andrew | January 09, 2008 at 11:05 PM
I would def. love more info. Please email me at jeradshaw@hotmail.com tomorrow. Would love to know the set up on Wednesday's!!! I would love to watch 3 games of solid hockey!!!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Wow Jerad. Sorry. I won't post in your presence any longer. I listened to the game and it seemed they let the foot off the gas a little. You said the same thing...Right? Wow, thanks for the personal insult. I actually like you. I can see what you think of me. Yikes. I am actually speechless now...Sorry I touched a nerve there with you.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | January 09, 2008 at 11:32 PM
Andrew could you send me that info about the high school hockey games as well?

I have many nerves, and if you touched one of them, you should have nothing to worry about at all. I was into the game on B2 and saw your post and decided to throw my weight around. ( I have plenty!!!) I love your perspective on the game hit, and I didn't mean to say it the way I did. I apoligize!!! Sorry if I came acrossed as a jerk. I didn't mean it that way. I was kinda into the flow of the game! I do apoligize!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 10, 2008 at 12:15 AM
Cool it, people.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | January 10, 2008 at 12:40 AM
I apoligize to hit via the blog. He also sent me an email which I explained myself and my point of view. I apoligize to him on my email and, Justin and the rest of the bloggers. If it seemed like I was abrasive, I didn't mean it that way. I had just got done watching the game. Take away my man card, but I also just failed playing "Welcome to the Jungle" on medium on Guitar Hero. I was a little on edge. I apoligize for upseting anybody. I am taking a weekend sit in the penalty box for my actions. Hopefully, I don't get a misconduct!

i just had a great reality tv idea...everyone who posts on this blog gets thrown into a house together for the rest of the season. forced to watch only komets hockey as the world watches how all the hockey fans will exist together.
all we need is a house to film in.... how about JC's place!!!
Posted by: JW | January 10, 2008 at 01:11 AM
I like that idea!!! Public Access??? JW, you know, you made the idea, you are in the house!!! Gloves, YES OR NO???? It's always been a no!

This Hit Somebody/Jarad Shaw fight could me more antcipated than Reclitzch/Henley.
I'm taking bets.. Hit goes in as the slight favorite only because he has been trained in the way of message board brutality by a man that has forgotten more about message boards than I will ever know. Although I did read a Blake Sebring article where Shaw said he was the toughest fan in the MC and everyone was scared to fight him. Now if we can get Komet Warrior to take a break from his Special Olymipics training schedule he could be the special guest referee in this no holds barred brawl...

Here are your Penalties
Hit Somebody : 2 minutes roughing 5 minutes fighting
Jerad Shaw : 2 minutes turtling 5 minutes fighting and a weekend misconduct.

400-note streak on Welcome to the Jungle, by the way. Yes, on medium.

Do we have a little to much time on our hands Justin??
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 10, 2008 at 11:57 AM
I wish. I think that was probably the last time I had a moment to myself, you know, about four months ago.
Posted by: Justin Cohn | January 10, 2008 at 12:39 PM
HAHA... Are you going to the Colts game this weekend?

I will take a two minutes for delay of game since I am just now reading all of this....my bad. I am game for the house too.

I took my son to the Bloomington/Komets game last night for my son's birthday. It's a nice little drive but worth it. We had bunches of fun. It was $1 hotdog, fountain drink, and beer night so I think that just might have helped a little. It's a nice little building. Fairly new I think and pretty clean. It's got a pretty nice lounge, bathrooms blow the MC away. There are so called sky boxes that go all the way around and they have the advertisement lighting that goes all the way around the arena. I wish the MC had this also as I just think it looks good. Fans are pretty cool and the place can get really load. I think the attendance was just over two thousand. If they could just find a way to fill the building I think they would be a in this league a long time. Got home at about 3am. Good time.

jerad shaw turtling??? sounds about right, except on the wiffleball field !!!!
Posted by: JW | January 10, 2008 at 05:42 PM
I would like to have $1.00 BEER night at the KOMETS game sometime.
Posted by: mightbite | January 10, 2008 at 06:31 PM
I emailed and asked Randy Brown about the $1.00 hot dog/beer/pop and he said it cannot be done here in Ft.Wayne. Dont know why but thats what he said. Kinda like the caps on the $3.25 pop's being kept last year and I seen him walking around with a cap on his.
Posted by: topshelf | January 10, 2008 at 07:18 PM
Huh, that's weird- don't they have dollar nights at the Wizards games?
When I went to bed last night the K's were up 3-1 I think... imagine my disappointment when I saw the score in the paper this morning. Not a good way to start a Thursday. See everyone tomorrow! :)

For anyone who is interested, we are in the beginning stages of making plans to travel to Bloomington on Feb 23rd, which is a Saturday. We will be car pooling to the game, or you can drive up yourself. There is also a game in KZOO on Sunday. My party is planning on going up Saturday, and then staying the night somewhere on Saturday, then go to the game on Sunday. We would love to have a bunch of K's fans at the Bloomington game. Of course you don't have to stay in a hotel, or even go to the KZOO game. I have receieved a couple emails with people interested in going. I am going to do some research on hotel rooms and locations this weekend. Shoot me an email if you are interested, and I will email you when I find out any info.
