Here's a look at today's story on Luciano Aquino. Aquino has a chance to be one of the best players to come through Fort Wayne in years and I think coach Al Sims sees that, explaining why he's sometimes tough on his star.
- There's a story out of The Bloomington Pantagraph, in which coach Derek Booth explains why his stars keep bolting for Europe. It's nothing new for European teams to overpay for North American talent. Strange, though, that every team in the International Hockey League isn't losing players left and right, so I'm not completely buying his explanations about it being purely financial.
- Click here to read some rare criticism out of The Muskegon Chronicle on the direction the Fury is headed.
- Former Detroit Red Wings star Darren McCarty was scoreless and minus-1 in his debut with the Flint Generals, a 5-4 loss to the Fury today.
- Gary Cook, who orchestrated the Thunder Bay championships in the former Colonial/United Hockey League, has died.
- A coach and a sportswriter? Hmm, I'd better go update my resume.

I see that Bloomington got Kukulka to finally show up. Does anyone know if Henley is playing tonight?

Anyone see that fight in the russian super league?? Pretty crazy! I'm going to give it a b2 try tonight. Hopefully the boys can play well.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 07:00 PM
What fight?
Posted by: Justin Cohn | January 09, 2008 at 07:06 PM
They just showed it on sportscenter at the end. 378 minutes of penalties. End of the game. It was benches clearing. Does Bloomington put the game on b2 on delay?
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 07:07 PM
Nevermind. I forgot Chicago is an hour behind us. And to think that I just wasted 20 minutes of solid Guitar Hero time!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 07:10 PM
Chase just said that Henley isn't back yet

Looks like no Henley tonight. Hopefully his first home game will be Friday night so the Komet Fans can welcome him and actually see him play this time....

OKAY, so I am not Komet Warrior. Ewasko is a no go as well. Welp, 6 bucks for no Heavyweights going. Darn!!! @ least I am going to get some hockey!!! FYI, has anyone been to Bloomington?? It looks like a nice barn. I might head up there on Feb. 23rd and check it out!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 07:59 PM
HAHA...back the the Wednesday night Warriors. Fall down, get a penalty call. Hope this doesn't continue.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:07 PM
Is anyone else watching b2 tonight?
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:13 PM

Pretty good feed, but this guy is calling a UHL game instead of an IHL game! Don't think I am saying he is homering either. The penalty they just called was soft to. That place looks like a fun place to be a fan at!!! Parson's is so dirty :)
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:18 PM
Bloomington is a fun place for a hockey game I went there midway through last season.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 08:25 PM
I am pretty sure I want to head up there for a game this year!!! It seems like a good place to watch a game.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:28 PM
Tom: Loading up the Shaw bus for a Saturday night game on Feb. 23rd up to Bloomington. Anyone else wanna join up on the parade??? I'm sure the gf will paint the windows as well!!! haha
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:30 PM
Sorry I am posting so much...trying to watch the game and post. I would like to get to all the away arena's this year so I can then limit my away trips. I want to see all the IHL barns as teams join. Not starting that same discussion. Just sayin!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:31 PM
Bloomington's goalie should have gotten that penalty. I say he was perty lucky. Oh wait the gave him a Delay of game penalty.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 08:34 PM
Jerad, I was telling my Mrs that I wanted to hit all of the other barns this year also, maybe find a weekend when we are out of town and hit a couple in one weekend.
Posted by: deuce | January 09, 2008 at 08:36 PM
I would like to take a tour of all pro hockey arenas in N. American, I think that would be awesome.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 08:36 PM
I couldn't see if we tipped it, but he deserve it and got it. I missed Chaulk's tripping. My screen was frozen with his stick in mid air and a guy laying on the ground. Guessing maybe a trip!!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:36 PM
Reiter is playing well!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:38 PM
Nothin like a good ole youth hockey game
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 08:41 PM
I haven't had the chance to tour that much. 2 years ago I went to Windsor and there was all kinds of Junior hockey on T.V. around that area. I would love to take a 2 week trip to go watch hockey in Canada. I think that would be a blast. Weather that could be a vacation the gf agrees on, that would be another thing!!!!
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:42 PM
Adam, are you from Ft. Wayne??? One of the Dr. that I work with said he son plays on High School hockey, and they play 3 games every Wednesday. I think I am heading up there at least once in the next couple weeks. Heard it is good hockey.
Sorry, I really don't mean to be the board hog tonight.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 08:44 PM
I'm Originally from Ft. Wayne I moved to Lansing, MI this summer to pursue College at Lansing Community College. I will also be a Hockey player there.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 08:48 PM
Very nice!!! Just heard there was solid hockey with High school's on Wednesday at McMillan. I am probably going to head up there in a couple weeks. I am still trying to learn the game, and sitting there would be a good learning experiance.

I'm Currently playing hockey in Detorit in some beer league. In 20gms 32g-19a-51pts-313pim
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 09:01 PM
Wow... That's alot of points for spending that much time in the box. Other teams must drink alot more beer then you.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 09:07 PM
Most penalties come toward the end of the games.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 09:09 PM
Still, are you trying to stab people with a skate like Happy Gilmore??
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 09:13 PM
Great Save by rieter on Aldoff's breakaway
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 09:14 PM
Goal PT.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 09:18 PM
I have watched hockey for awhile, but I don't know fundimentals, but if Durdin carries the puck the lenth of the ice for a 5% shot, that isn't something he should be doing in this league in my opinion. Why not dump it? It didn't lead to a goal, but it lead to a break away.
On the goal, with a guy from each team down the side of the boards to the left, I figured they would get a rip at the goal. Great pass to Parson's. Thats pretty much automatic if you give him that much net.
Posted by: Jerad Shaw | January 09, 2008 at 09:20 PM
Well Reiter should be great in net if we go to a shootout
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 09:24 PM
GOOOOOAAAALLLLL

Posted by: deuce | January 09, 2008 at 09:34 PM
Jerad-
Back to your Happy Gilmore Comment, I don't try to stab players with my skate, but I do hold the record for most times spent in a penalty box.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 09:34 PM
Jared....you know I am game...I am still trying to find anyone else who wants to go to K-zoo on Sat...it is just me and Richard and my friend from Grand Rapids going to the K-zoo game Sat....save me a spot in the Jared bus for the 23rd...I will even drive part of the way on the way home so you can have an adult beverage if you like. My parents went to Vegas when I was just a little kid. They told me they had a ton of fun even at a thunder-komets game. I was at vegas to, but I barealy remember it.
Posted by: Adam Craig | January 09, 2008 at 09:45 PM
W/E....K-zoo is a place where weather permitting we should go to every game b/c it is only like 35 minutes farther than FW for us....Bloomington could be an April trip.
Posted by: Tom | January 09, 2008 at 09:46 PM
GTG...Real World is on soon and puppy wants in. Shaw give me a call at end of the game.

Interesting find....I was looking at the IHL website and noticed that the last game Gallagher worked was 12/31/07 and Hawthorne was 12/29/07. Maybe the IHl is finally waking up!!!!
