On Monday, I brought you a blog entry in which Komets president Michael Franke denied the accuracy of a Prohockeynews.com report that said the team was offering discounts on tickets to bring back former season-ticket holders. Prohockeynews.com has since recanted its statement.
Speaking of tickets, single-game tickets for the upcoming season go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at Memorial Coliseum and www.ticketmaster.com.
Also, the Komets have signed forward Olivier Legault and defenseman Clay Lewis.
Legault, 20, had 16 goals and 32 points in 44 games last season with his junior team, Terrebonne. He was a fourth-round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Lewis, 24, had 10 assists and 85 penalty minutes in 34 games last season with Buffalo State.
Finally, the International Hockey League will hold its training camp for officials at McMillen Arena on Saturday. It was a staple there in the United Hockey League and the IHL's vice-president of hockey operations, Brad Jones, will be running the camp.

Sounds like some good signings- I can smell the hockey emanating from the Coliseum.

205 min last year. He(Legault) can't be to soft. Maybe now some will find the toughness they have been seeking.
Posted by: Trish | September 19, 2007 at 02:56 PM
You know when I first saw this, I was thinking it was that Legault that I think used to play for Elmira who was tough as nails. This Leagault looks to be tough as well.

We Still need more, but at least this is a start...
Posted by: David | September 19, 2007 at 03:35 PM

As for the Officials running thier camp at McMillen, is that the only place that they are doing this? They should open it up to the public so we can go see who is there. Hopefully Hawthorne stays under the NHL officials so he won't screw us over anymore. haha.

Some good names in there. I saw he has fought Joel Rechlicz so maybe round 2 this season if he makes the team.
Posted by: lovelost | September 19, 2007 at 07:47 PM
Also, Bloomington signed Don Margettie, good vetran forward who plays hard every night.
Posted by: lovelost | September 19, 2007 at 07:51 PM
I like the signings alot. Things are shaping up nicely. I am happy with the way things are looking. Hope the team philosphy is one that we can all enjoy this season. Euro Hockey will not cut it this year.
Go Komets.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | September 19, 2007 at 09:11 PM
This guy sounds like he's a legit tough guy that can play. Wasn't Margettie the guy that pounded Kelly Perrault?!
Posted by: jc | September 19, 2007 at 09:44 PM
I remember Brad Wingfield's one punch that KO'd Kelly. Ouch!!!! Fighter he was not. Scoring machine he was.
Posted by: Hit Somebody!!! | September 19, 2007 at 09:56 PM
It wasn't Wingfield, it was Margettie who hit Perrault.
Posted by: Komet/Fusion Fan | September 19, 2007 at 11:24 PM
Margettie is one tough customer. I doubt a one-blow KO of Kelly is on the top of his resume.
Legault has fought some tough dudes.
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | September 20, 2007 at 07:53 AM
I have been complaining so let me be fair and say 'Thank you" to the Komets for addressing this concern.
I will be estatic if they keep Henley as well.
Signed,
Dr. Fair Weathered/Mr. Naysayer

I don't know why people were all up in arms about the Komets not getting toughness, I was never worried about it. That is probably one of the hardest pieces to find and recruit. The Franke's came out and said the Tough guy they want has to be able to play a regular shift. Those types of guys are far and few between. You guys really needed to be patient..
btw..welcome aboard Legault and Lewis
Posted by: Mark | September 20, 2007 at 12:38 PM
JC-Margettie was the guy who KO'd Kelly...
Posted by: Mark | September 20, 2007 at 12:41 PM
I thought it was Mallette????
Posted by: kometfan | September 20, 2007 at 12:52 PM
Prohockeynews.com has previous publication errors. I've seen stats quoted incorrectly. They haven't even added goals and assists to get points right! My assumption is volunteer writers with no editing. Lordy, I miss editors!

Syro should be a great asset to the AHL, another big guy afraid of contact.

JM, Love it. I'm lol'n

Komets PA, what will the goal song be this year? Will it be Crowd Chant again (which is one of my favorites that I've heard in all arenas I've been to)? Or are we resurrecting Rock and Roll Part 2?...
Posted by: J-Rid | September 21, 2007 at 10:04 AM
I leave for a week and you guys really get going don't you. (Actually, I'm still gone, in Gettysburg. SD right now, just checking in.)
Interesting singings, but I'll have to wait and see them in uniform before I form an opinion.
Posted by: Greg | September 21, 2007 at 11:39 AM
It's all Tony's fault, Greg.... =)
Posted by: Jungle Monkey | September 21, 2007 at 01:00 PM
With Syro, I just think he wants to be a stuff guy but playing college it wasn't enforced to play "as" hard hockey and we he came he didn't know what to expect. But he did have some good checks threw the year.

Posted by: lovelost | September 21, 2007 at 08:10 PM
Good for Reynolds. Hope we get him but that would be good for him to bake it thier. Any word on people coming to camp here?
Posted by: lovelost | September 21, 2007 at 09:15 PM
Good for Chaz. Anywhere but here is a-ok with me!
Posted by: JungleMonkey | September 21, 2007 at 09:32 PM
J-Rid,
and like everything in life we a
to paraphrase David Byrne of Talking Heads ; "Same as it ever was". No changes in store for goal music. It worked well last year. As far as other music, I have been busy this summer compiling songs from other teams through the i-net and hope to throw more new and old songs into the mix this season.
Posted by: Komets PA | September 21, 2007 at 11:08 PM
oops, cut and paste went wild on that one.
Posted by: Komets PA | September 21, 2007 at 11:10 PM
No changes in music, goal or otherwise, eh? What a shock.

Guys, guys, guys...
Can't we all just get along?
Checking in from Soiux Falls, SD coming home today.
Hope Chaz makes it with the Senators.
Posted by: Greg | September 22, 2007 at 12:09 PM
Cool. I really liked Crowd Chant last year. Hoping to hear it a lot again this year...
Posted by: J-Rid | September 22, 2007 at 12:20 PM
Good- I liked Crowd Chant too! Whatever gets played, I just hope we hear it a lot! Pocket schedules are out, means the season can't be too far away, right? No, I'm not counting the days or anything... :)
Posted by: FiveMinuteMajor | September 22, 2007 at 01:51 PM
Justin thank you very much.
I hope Johnson has a long career with the Senators. I would have someone else to boo besides Daniella Alfredsson
Posted by: Tony E | September 22, 2007 at 03:25 PM
Where did you get a pocket schedule at? I thought they would not be ready for a few more days....
Posted by: Bob | September 22, 2007 at 07:16 PM
Chuckitt,
It's just too easy to be someone else. You can enter any name you want.

Let's Go Komets!
Posted by: Komet Bruiser | September 22, 2007 at 11:23 PM
Can this season get started already?
Posted by: Komet Bigtime Fan | September 22, 2007 at 11:24 PM
its easy to be someone else but justin can find out who each blog is so my point is why warn someone who has abused the priviledge of using the blog? do you really want to blog with someone who would stoop so low as to use someone elses name to try aand cause problems? why even argue with me? im just stating a point that the person doesnt deserve to blog here anymore. why defend the opposite position? youd sing a differnt tune if that person used your name and did some crap, or would you?
Posted by: chuckitt | September 23, 2007 at 12:50 AM
I warned because I believe in second chances.
