ROCKFORD, Ill. -- OK, I don't know who does the shot totals here, but I've never in my life seen it as inaccurate as this. It's shots on goal, folks, not just shots. But whatever, whomever does it has the IceHogs leading in shots 42-13 late in the second period.
They are right on the tone of the game, though. It's all IceHogs. They lead it 3-1. Fort Wayne has spent almost the entire period short-handed. The IceHogs' Preston Mizzi has scored twice, besting goaltender Kevin St. Pierre on one of them with a shot from the blue line that caught the netminder off guard.
After that, though, St. Pierre was heroic for a five-minute span, making about seven saves on shots from point-blank range. But he gave up another goal to let the IceHogs go up 3-1.
Fort Wayne just looks rattled -- they cannot seem the clear their zone of the puck -- and they can't stay out of the penalty box either. I don't know that I've seen them look this disheveled this season.

The K's Looked Great In The First Period, But Your Right....I'm Not Sure I Have Even Seen The K's Collapse This Fast Before.......It's Heartbreaking.

As a reminder of what I wrote before...... IF YOU TAKE AWAY THE SECOND PERIOD from the Komets, they'd be unbeatable. Again I'd like to say, they are out of "we've learned our lesson this time". There are no more lessons to be learned, that's what a 76-game season was for, that's what getting lucky we learned that in game 3 of the first round was for. This is Rockford, this is for the right to make it to the cup finals. The K's dug their grave, they must dig their way out.

Agreed! If The Komets Would Have Played The Whole Game As Hard As They Did The Last 6 Minutes Of The 3rd Period The K's Would Have Won Easily!!!

When will the Komets play 60 minutes of hockey...thats all I would like to know..
where is everyone...when you have just your defenseman scoring there is a problem..
where is Ruid..where is Marchant, where is goodwin, where is Goneau...where are all these guys at? are they even playing...i see them skating out there..but I don't see them playing hockey..I just don't get it...
the team that looked desperate out there was ROckford..it surely wasn't the Komets....

The Komets don't know what 60-minutes of hockey is, they haven't played it since the first quarter of the season. They started to towards the end, but they let it slip away. A President once said "speak softly and carry a big stick". Unfortunatley, the Komets speak softly at times and louder at others--but they don't carry that big stick. They should be PISSED OFF (sorry for that word), but they have their own efforts to blame. The same efforts that put them on a win one/lose one streak half-way through the season. The same one that nearly got them in serious trouble against Chicago. The same one that I said before IF THIS HAPPENS AGAINST ROCKFORD, IT'S LIGHTS OUT.
You don't win hockey games in anyone period, but you can lose them in any one period. You play 60-minutes off hard-nosed hockey, any less than that and you let your guard down and the game can be over. After a Komets win, they let their guard down--THIS IS THE UHL, you don't win just by showing up. You don't win just by playing great hockey, you can certainly lose those. But there is a huge difference between losing and getting beat. I can take getting beat, I can't take losing. You can't control getting beat, but you can control losing.

Get real Brad. You are the one that is Hot/Cold the whole season. You have such a perspective on the game, that you know everything there is. When the Komets win, you I told you so. Look how they played. ETC. When they have lost the last 2 months of the season, you are the first one to point out mistakes. I'm sick and tired of the niesayers. I was in front of one Sunday night. If you aren't a Komets fan then GET THE F OUT OFF THE BLOG AND OUT OF THE JUNGLE. Be a fan or just leave..... When I was 10 yrs old I was taken to my first Komets game....I feel in love. NO MATTER WHO THE PLAYERS, or What they are doing....IM a Komet fan.....Guess I'm just old school, but no matter what, Im Orange and Black through and through. To bad you and your season tickets aren't the same way....GO KOMETS>>>BRING IT BACK 2-2

I'm a Komets fan true and blue (errr orange and black), I just can't stand lack of effort. I believe in TOUGH LOVE, reverse psychology and BEING REALISTIC.
CAN the K's win this thing? YES but ONLY and I mean ONLY if they start playing as a team and play every minute of every period. IF they don't do this, they will NOT win because Rockford won't let up, Kalamazoo won't let up and Muskegon won't let up.
There are ugly wins too, I wasn't excited at the Chicago game we won 2-1 in overtime--I was there, it was pathetic hockey to be honest. I believe in the Komets, they need to believe in theirselves. You DO by LEADING, you DICTATE the game by YOU DICTATING THE PLAY.

Guys... its you who make the blog interesting...We are all Komet fans through and through. I listened to the game last night (game 2 in R-ford) Even Bob couldn't figure out where all the shots came from. I think somebody got happy with the buttons or something. The guys need to say intense ALL GAME LONG. They get complacent at the wrong time. Great play the last 10 minutes of the game for sure. Bring It Back Guys Find the Fire for the Whole Game. GO KOMETS P.S. Props to my man Frenchy. 43 shots or not he was working it. Thanks Kevin for keeping us in it...

I don't make it interesting at all?

ask Frenchy how many shots he looked at? probably felt more like 75, especially the 2nd period and 2 men down...of course several shots he got credited for were when he was laying flat out on the ice, Rockford could not put the puck in the net...good thing he is big...the Rockford Dmen stopped a bunch of shots, they were laying all over the rink...final score 3-2 Rockford

Well I'm sure if you asked Frenchy, his response would be WAY TOO MUCH RUBBER FLYING HIS WAY! :-) The thing about Frenchy is when he's off, he's way off--but when he's on, ride the wave!!
