Memorial Coliseum is packed with 10,462 fans -- only the second time this season with a sellout -- and it's no surprise. We've got Bob Chase bobbleheads (1,000 of them given away), season-ticket exchanges and a sort of huge hockey game that could decide the Tarry Cup.
Sometimes this does feel like a true hockey town -- I'm from Detroit, so I do have high standards -- and this is definitely one of those nights.
Both the Komets and the Muskegon Fury came out hard, albeit a little tentative in the first couple of minutes. Midway through the first period it's scoreless and fights have almost broken out three times. Lots of excitement and, in particular, great goaltending at both ends.
Meanwhile, general manager David Franke has informed me that the team will be bringing in rookie defenseman Erick Trombley, a 6-foot-3, 203-pounder who had been with Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He had 10 assists in 54 games and should be joining the Komets on Saturday.
The Komets must have their playoff roster in by 10 a.m. Monday and the waiver draft will be at 1 p.m.

Nice size. Does anyone have to go to make room for him?
