Nothings gonna happen...gimme a break!

Ryne Gurney

I totally agree, all eyes will be on them, however, a late hit or some small thing could spark something bad, but i doubt it.

Hit Somebody!!!

The good old Franke Hype Machine...kind of like the good old OHIC (Outside Hockey Information Center)....MAN! I haven't heard the radio spots yet...but I can imagine they are hyping up a physical "war" between the Komets and the Jackals. What a joke...I mean snooze fest that will be. Our team hasn't finished checks at all and have stopped playing aggressive in front of and around the net. Most talked about game my behind!!!

Hit Somebody!!!

Art Vandelay.....funny one there.

Brandon

This game is going to be boring. Both teams are going to be watched like hawks by the league and they'll be scared to do anything. The most excitment that will come from this game will be the occasional yapping between Nichols and Richardson and POSSIBLY a fight between Morency and Littlejohn(son)

I hope I'm wrong but as hyped up as they're trying to make this game, it will be a let down. The bad side of that is that it will bring out the blood hungry "fans" and when it doesnt happen, garbage will rain from the stands.

Justin Cohn

I agree the game will be boring. Don't mean I'm not going to write about it. And before you think it's them hyping it; it's be asking questions and them answering. It's not like they're sending out press releases.

Justin Cohn

By the way, name a more talked about regular season game in the last few years.

Burgee

Elmira NEEDS TO WIN,
they have LOST 5 IN A ROW,
The next 20 Elmira games are going to be very difficult for them to win. My prediction, they'll lose 23 of 25 games, Nichols will be fired in 10 games. Elmira had some easy wins early on against teams that just were not ready and they were.
Elmira is going to do everything in their power to win, they have to, they are in the toilet just waiting for someone to flush.

JR

I agree that the next game after a brawl filled game is usually a snoozer; but for whatever reason I get the feeling that this game could be different... I am not saying that this could be a riot on the ice again, I'm just saying that I think we may see a more intense hitting game and possibly one or two scuffles... Just a feeling for some reason...

Justin
I have heard through the grape vine that the Komets have been talking with Chalk. Can you verify this??

Greg

THe one wild card fro Friday's game is who'd the ref going to be and what type of instructions will he recieve from the league office. My guess is the league will tell him to call anything and everything if the game even slightly gets out of control.

I am glad that I am not the only one lamenting the lack of physical play and fighting in hockey these days. I am finding it hard to warm up to this team and get into going to the games. I really don't fault the Komet team/org so much, it is just the way hockey is going and they are just a part of it.

I ask you this....how excititng would this game be (tomorrow) if Tidball and what's his name had to be here to face the music?

I have never heard anything so assinine as suspending a player from a particular opponent. What's next....on ice time outs?

C'mon...this is hockey (or it used to be)

stoney85

P.S. I went to K'zoo last Saturday. Pretty sloppy and uninspired in my book.

To a degree I can understand (I don't like... it but I understand it) why the NHL wants to go Euro and clean up the leauge. They are trying to market the skill side of the game and minimize the rougher stuff (Hypocrites - the won't take a real stand and outlaw it all together)

I can not figure out why the UHL seems to be following suit with the Euro play. The skill level isn't there to the degree it is in the NHL. Why not see if it works and then follow?

Greg

If you want to watch that kind of stuff tune into the WWE. Hockey is more than just hitting and fighting. There's speed, skill, scoring. I'm glad that Tidball and the other guy aren't here. I don't want to see the ugliness as transpired two weeks ago.

JungleMonkey

I agree Greg. I wouldn't want Tidball to sideline another one of our guys because we can't stand up to him. If we had a guy capable of actually meeting the challenge I might feel differently.

stoney85

Thanks Greg, in all the years I've been watching hockey I never noticed those other elements....

I love they way some feel the need to assert hockey 101 to anyone who doesn't think they way they do.

To be correct about it...if YOU want a kinder gentler hockey YOU go watch something else or start your own leauge. All I am in favor of is the spirit of the game and what it once was, be left alone or do I need to explain to you the 101 dynamic of the role fighting plays in hockey?

Komet fans love Steve Fletcher and his jersey hangs in retirement. Why? Mainly because he played the game the with a style of intensity and toughness. People respect that. Many hockey fans enjoy it.

JungleMonkey - Do you know what the 'Jungle' stood for in its heyday? I respect your opinion but if that is what you want or all you expect out of your Komets (your comment on our teams toughness) you and I will have to agree to be polar opposites on this.

Hit Somebody!!!

I don't think Stoney and Jungle are that much different in opinion. Jungle wants the same thing. Hard hitting settle it on the ice hockey. This team doesn't finish it's checks and doesn't play the body around or in front of the net. This was the same complaint many of us had with last years team. If they don't fix this, teams like Muskegon and K-zoo will continue to beat us. Rockford will eventually get into the groove and we will have to answer their toughness and skill. We have the talent, we just need the grit out there.

stoney85

Hit - I agree with your statement.

I didn't mean to be coarse yesterday and I apologize if I was. Were all orange and black friends here. If people want kinder gentler hockey I am a caveman and will go away. But if not, as I fear, the leauge is making a blunder.
