On the theory that nobody doesn't like a Name The Team contest (they don't, do they?), here's one for Blobophiles and other people with immense goo-gobs of time on their hands.
It seems the Seattle Supersonics are trying to extricate themselves from Seattle and move to Oklahoma City. BUT team owner Clay Bennett says he wants to negotiate a settlement that will enable Seattle to keep the team's name, colors and records.
In other words: They're the Oklahoma City Somethings right now.
So get crackin', people. No singular nicknames. No derogatory references to Native Americans, Okies and the like. And make it original.
Wranglers, Roughriders, Sodbusters, they're all too easy. Although I kind of like "Dogies."
The Oklahoma City Fightin' Dogies. Now there's a start.
-- Ben Smith
They could always kick it old-school and bring back the 89ers...only this time basketball instead of baseball...
...but, if they want to keep something applicable to the city AND still sound fast, go with the Landrunners? Maybe?
...or not?

The Fightin' Doug Gotliebs and make the ESPN Radio talking head (and ex-Oklahoma State Cowboy and ND Fightin' Irish) the GM, coach and team Prez. He could do no worse than Isiah Thomas, could he?

The Fightin' Doug Gotliebs. Another good one. And, hey, my 9-year-old could do no worse than Isiah.

Haha, watching Pardon The Interruption today and Bob Ryan filled in for Kornheiser today...
...he, too, suggested the 89ers, whereas Wilbon suggested the Outlaws.
I'm partial to the 89ers as I too suggested it, but I The Outlaws work in my opinion too
Nothin like bringing up a dead thread!
