Drew Cumberland had to leave Wednesday’s game in the second inning with a back injury. Cumberland spent time on the disabled list earlier this season after tweaking his rhomboid muscle.
“It’s that same area. We’ll get him checked out again and will know more in a few days. He had trouble breathing. We’ll see how he is in the next couple of days,” Wizards manager Doug Dascenzo said.
The injury forced first baseman Felix Carrasco to move to third base Justin Baum to move to second. Carrasco had made one start at third this year. Baum had made one start at second.
Cumberland had been on the disabled list from May 29-June 10. He has a .286 batting average.
