NELSON PETERS TO FILE CANDIDACY FOR RE-ELECTION TO COUNTY COMMISSIONER’S POST
On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, Allen County Commissioner, Nelson Peters will file papers to seek re-election to the 1st District Allen County Commissioners post he currently holds. Peters has served as County Commissioner since 2005 and will be completing his first term at the end of 2008. He previously served ten years on the Allen County Council.
Since his election, Peters gained recognition by the Indiana Association of County Commissioners (IACC) as the Outstanding First Term County Commissioner in 2006. He helped lead Allen County as the Association of Indiana Counties 2007 County Achievement Award winner with work in the area of health insurance and employee benefits. Peters currently chairs the IACC’s 100k Coalition a group of County Commissioners who represent the 16 Indiana counties with populations of over 100,000.
Among his priorities for a second term are the completion of a long-term strategic business plan, developing a greater partnership with the business community to enhance economic development, assisting the Allen County Sheriff with a move to new headquarters, strengthening the county’s neighborhood partnership and working to develop the technological innovations which will make it easier for citizens to work with County government. “I am honored that the citizens of Allen County have given me the opportunity to serve them. I look forward to continuing to enhance the efficiencies of county government on a cost effective basis”, Peters said.
