UConn Loses...ND A 3 Seed Now?
Around 9:15 p.m., Notre Dame's thought process about Saturday, about the Big East tournament and potentially the NCAAs possibly changed.
Providence 85, Connecticut 76.
And the Friars' win opened up the possibility of a No. 3 seed for Notre Dame. If the Irish win Saturday, they are in the late game every night during the Big East Tournament (as my boss cringes about deadlines). An Irish loss and a Connecticut win over Cincinnati and the Huskies reclaim the No. 3 spot due to tiebreakers.
In NCAA matters, a third-place finish in the Big East combined with a semifinals or finals appearance could maybe mean a No. 3 seed in the NCAAs for Notre Dame (this is subjective, of course).
But now Saturday became a bunch more important (unless Connecticut loses to Cincinnati, then it means nothing for seeding again)
