Notre Dame sophomore tight end Will Yeatman was charged on Wednesday with two counts after his Jan. 28 arrest for operating while Iitoxicated.
The first count, criminal recklessness, is a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail. The second count, operating a vehicle with 0.08 percent of alcohol, is a Class C misdemeanor punishable with a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail. Yeatman had 0.11 percent alcohol at the time of the arrest.
According to St. Joseph's County prosecutor's office spokeswoman Catherine Wilson, this is Yeatman's first offense.
His next court date is Feb. 25 at 8 a.m., the first time he'll appear in court. Wilson said there has not been a decision whether Yeatman will be eligible for the county's pretrial diversion program. Previous Notre Dame players who were arrested, including Derrell Hand and Kyle McAlarney, were placed into the program.
Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis declined to comment Wednesday on non-Signing Day issues, saying he'll speak about Yeatman and other issues at 10 a.m. Friday.
