ND-UConn at the half and Jackson update
Tory Jackson fell to the ground and immediately grabbed his head. right The sophomore Notre Dame point guard began kicking in obvious pain.
Before this, the Irish had played pretty much a perfect half, leading UConn 47-32 at the break. By the time Jackson landed and started kicking, Notre Dame coach Mike Brey was at midcourt to tend to his point guard.
Jackson eventually got up and moved gingerly to the locker room.
Jackson, who is starting the second half, has a cornea abrasion on his right eye. Already, he looks like he's having trouble seeing.
Besides Jackson's injury, Notre Dame had a impressive half. With 3:59 remaining, Kyle McAlarney hadn't missed a shot -- he eventually rimmed out a tough layup -- but had 18 points and was 4 of 4 from three-point range.
Luke Harangody had initial trouble figuring out what to do against the taller, rangier Hasheem Thabeet, but eventually he discovered that backing him down to almost directly under the basket put him in an advantageous position. At the half, he had 14 points.
And Jackson, he had four points, four rebounds and seven assists.
