Breaking down the numbers, Notre Dame women's basketball
Same as with the men below, it's been a while since the lords at the NCAA have updated the national statistical leaders because of holidays, finals, long breaks, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, new stats are up, although in the women's team's case many will go down as the waxing by Tennessee wasn't included.
To compare from late December, check out the last update. On to this one:
Individual:
- Freshman forward Devereaux Peters is tied for 25th in blocks per game (2.4) with Belmont's Jessica Bobbitt, Mississippi's Shawn Goff, Iona's Anna McLean and Iowa State's Nicky Wieben.
- Sophomore guard Ashley Barlow is 25th in free throw percentage at 88.4 percent.
- Senior guard Charel Allen is sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio at plus-2.69.
- Senior guard Tulyah Gaines is 25th in assist-to-turnover ratio at plus-2.08.
Team:
- Sixth in scoring offense -- 81.6 points per game.
- 23rd in scoring defense -- 54.3 points per game.
- Fifth in scoring margin -- plus-27.3 points. To note and to marvel in the Connecticut greatness this season -- Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw called the Huskies the best team in the country on Saturday -- UConn is beating its opponents by an AVERAGE!!! of 42.5 points.
- 12th in field goal percentage -- 47.7 percent
- 42nd in field goal percentage defense -- 35.8 percent.
- 42nd in rebounding margin -- plus-6.3.
- 14th in assists per game -- 17.7
- Tied for 39th in blocks per game with Kansas State -- 4.8.
- Tied for 11th in steals per game with Marquette -- 12.9
- Third in turnovers per game -- 12.9
- Second in assist-to-turnover ratio -- plus-1.37.
