K-State Decommit Interested in Notre Dame
Rivals.com four-star quarterback Chris Harper looks like he'll be re-opening his recruiting process.
The former Kansas State commitment looks like he'll back out after Wildcats offensive coordinator James Franklin left Manhattan, Kan., for the same position at Maryland.
Harper said he'll consider Illinois, Oregon, Missouri and Notre Dame along with the Wildcats. According to Rivals.com, Harper's Notre Dame recruitment had been headed up by Corwin Brown.
While we're talking commitments and decommitments, there is a very good take by Terry Frei of the Denver Post on what the word "commitment" really means in today's recruiting landscape and basically begs to stop using the word until National Signing Day. We can't help but agree. There has to be another way to describe it, like "Dayne Crist announces he intends to sign with Notre Dame on Feb. 6. He is the XXth player to make this declaration for the Class of 2008."
It's bulkier, but much more accurate.

Well the recruiting process is so cut throat. Its almost like dealing with used car salesmen. Each school taking shots at one another. Also the football coaches do not respect the word commit. To them that just means. Talk more negative about the school the kid committed too. Until the 17 or 18 year old is so confused. He does not know what he wants. NCAA needs to step in and keep these low class coaches. From messing with the recruits head. Or a earlier signing of the national letter of intent. GO IRISH

Signings should start in August and be allowed to go until whenever. If these kids signed in August, then it would allow them to focus more attention on school and their senior seasons. My brother went to high school with Trent Edwards and he couldn't walk from one class to another without someone asking where he was going, especially after TW left Stanford for Notre Dame.
I'm sure coaches would still contact the players after they signed in August, but it's gotta help.
