The University of Houston is having a news conference tomorrow to announce a head coach.
That coach won't be Michael Haywood. Houston appears set to hire Oklahoma assistant coach Kevin Sumlin. Haywood was apparently eliminated from the search after a lengthy interview -- which makes one wonder exactly what the Houston native said during that time frame to turn off Cougars athletic director Dave Maggard.
It is the second head coaching opening Haywood appeared to be in serious contention along with the Minnesota vacancy last season.

Mike, just because Houston chose another candidate doesn't mean Haywood turned them off during the interview process. I the fact that you even implied that is unnecessary and a low blow.

While it may not mean for certain Haywood said or did something during the interview that knocked him out of the final decision, one would have to wonder why he didn't get the job with his strong Houston and coaching background. If the season experienced by the Irish this year was a factor, the Houston AD was shortsighted.

This is a good thing for us. Now Charlie needs to let Mike coordinate the offense and put together a college system offense.
