Some quarterback and practice observation clarity
Just got back from Notre Dame interviews and wanted to quickly relay a few things before we head back to Journal Gazette world headquarters (Fort Wayne, Ind.).
In response and agreeing with some posters, Charlie Weis said he wouldn't be starting Jimmy Clausen in this environment if he didn't think he could handle it. The third-year coach really believes in it. We'll see what happens.
Also, don't expect to hear from Demetrius Jones or Evan Sharpley anytime soon. When asked why neither was made available to the media Tuesday, Weis replied it is because they weren't the starting quarterback -- and to not request them because they won't be for a while.
Also, Weis said Jones is not being moved to running back. He was over running with the running backs on the gauntlet to work on ball protection -- something needed after the sophomore lost two fumbles in his debut Saturday.

The page header on Irish Insights still says 2006-2007 season ... time to change that.

Good call. I'll let the administrators who designed the site to eliminate that. Thanks man.
