Some things you know, some things you may have missed and "I Don't Know Butchie, Instead."
Some things you know:
- Notre Dame opens football camp tomorrow -- and one of its alumni, Jeff Samardzija, will make his first Double A start the same day when Tennessee plays the Montgomery Biscuits.
- Your Daily Brady: At least one writer things Quinn's holdout might help him in the future -- if Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson end up being unable to become legitimate NFL quarterbacks during the preseason.
Some things you missed:
- Two former Notre Dame teammates -- Mike Richardson and Maurice Stovall -- will play against each other when New England and Tampa Bay open the preseason Friday. There could be a chance the two end up matched up against one another throughout the course of the game, which could make for good fun.
- Judging from this story in the Wilmington (Del.) News Journal, it looks like former Notre Dame defensive end Ronald Talley -- now going by Ron -- might be a starter for the I-AA Blue Hens next month.

- Today is the one year anniversary of Insights. Thanks to everyone who has contributed and read the site to make it one of the places to go for Notre Dame information. A special thanks to those at Blue-Gray Sky, The Wizard of Odds and NDNation.com for continually linking over here and helping to get the word out. It is appreciated and we look forward to more in Year 2.
- While Samardzija is the more well-known of the Notre Dame pitchers playing professional baseball now, his former teammate is making an impression with Minnesota. Jeff Manship already moved from low to high Class A this year and is being considered as a potential call-up to Double A by the end of the season. While Samardzija took the ink, Manship quietly had a standout career for the Irish and could end up in the majors around the same time Samardzija will -- if not earlier.
