Russell Carter and Portsmouth Rosters

The Portsmouth (Va.) Basketball Invitational starts Wednesday and former Notre Dame guard Russell Carter will be one of the players fighting to impress and try to earn an NBA Draft spot or an eventual invitation to a summer league team. The rosters are out. The tournament runs from April 4-7.

Carter is one of four guards on his Portsmouth team, sponsored by Holiday Inn - Portsmouth. He's joined on his team by guards Dion Harris (Michigan), DaShaun Wood (Wright State) and De'Angelo Alexander (Charlotte); forwards Anthony Tolliver (Creighton), Valdas Vasylius (Old Dominion) and Justin Cage (Xavier) and center James Hughes (Northern Illinois). Carter is, statistically, the best three-point shooter on the team. The team is coached by Dave Trickler and Eric Acra. Trickler used to coach at Norfolk Academy and Acra, we believe, is the current Norfolk Academy coach.
