Going to the Hall in a Carr
Former Notre Dame basketball player Austin Carr was one of three players and seven people overall selected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Carr, the Irish's all-time leading scorer, also played in the NBA for 10 years.
Also inducted as players are Tennessee's Dick Barnett and Duke's Dick Groat, who is now the radio voice of the Pittsburgh Panthers and played briefly in the NBA for the Fort Wayne Pistons before a long baseball career. Missouri's Norm Stewart, Houston's Guy Lewis and Lefty Driesell, who coached at Maryland, James Madison and Georgia State among others, are the coaches inducted. Former Duke coach Vic Bubas will be in as a contributor.
Among the notable omissions is Dick Vitale, who might be the most recognizable face in college basketball.
