Your Daily Bracket -- Sunday
The win over Rutgers caused some movement for Notre Dame in the latest bracket projections. By the way -- one week to Selection Sunday, otherwise known as the start of one of the best weeks of the year.
The Irish moved up to a composite No. 7 seed in The Bracket Project, and remain a No. 5 seed in the Bracket Project's own projections facing Bob Knight and Texas Tech. Talk about a personality clash in that matchup.
Notre Dame remains a lock at ESPN, one of six Big East teams holding bids with Syracuse a probability to join the party and West Virginia, DePaul and Providence firmly bobbling on the bubble.
Speaking of brackets, Louisville knocked off Seton Hall today, giving Notre Dame the No. 4 seed overall. The Irish will face the Syracuse-Connecticut winner at 2 p.m. Thursday. We've also arrived in New York and will be blogging from here all week, including giving you a primer on what to do in our pseudo-hometown later on Sunday night.
As for The Jerome, we picked up three conference winners yesterday (Davidson, Belmont and Winthrop) but saw upset hopefuls Loyola-Illinois (Horizon) and Hofstra (Colonial) have NCAA Tournament and Jerome points dreams dashed. As of 1 p.m. Eastern, we have 17 points, right in the middle of the pack. And it didn't count our win for today -- Creighton beating Southern Illinois in the Missouri Valley final to cinch an automatic bid. Also check for the rest of our Jerome picks Monday.
The automatic tournament bids now look like this: Pennsylvania (Ivy); Creighton (MVC); Davidson (Southern); Winthrop (Big South); Eastern Kentucky (Ohio Valley); Belmont (Atlantic Sun).
