Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said junior forward Rob Kurz will start Thursday's game at DePaul, an indication the Irish's best front-court player's ankle is getting healthier.
"He has practiced some, not all the way yet," Brey said. "He'll give us close to a full practice today. He's a lot better than he was Saturday. To say he is 100 percent, I'm not sure we can say that."
Brey doesn't plan on limiting his minutes, though. He didn't want to play Kurz as much in Tampa, Fla. on Saturday, but foul trouble dictated Kurz to see more floor time.
The Big East schedule, which has Notre Dame playing Thursday and then off for a week, also gives the Irish a chance to let Kurz heal more afterwards and therefore play more against DePaul.
"I'm going to be ready to go," Kurz said. "It's been tough because I want to be out there playing. Especially against South Florida, I didn't really help the team. I wish I could have been helping those guys."
