Got a black shirt? Wear it tomorrow. At least, that's what the folks over at Notre Dame are asking fans to do for the Irish's game against No. 4 Alabama on Thursday at 9 p.m.
In an effort for support and to distract the Crimson Tide, the marketing department at Notre Dame announced a "Black-Out" night at the Joyce Center. At first glance, though, this could be confusing because blackouts and sports usually mean you can't watch it on television.
Not this time.
"That was all marketing," Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said. "I don't really get too involved with that."
He did, though, expect a raucous atmosphere for Thursday's game.
Also, Brey said it looks probable the Notre Dame-Louisville Big East men's basketball opener on Jan. 3 would be moved to 6 p.m. to avoid conflict with the Sugar Bowl, although nothing has officially been announced yet.
