We didn't make it to practice today and instead worked on a John Sullivan feature running in Friday's Journal Gazette. There was some good stuff that didn't make the story and we'll post it here Friday afternoon.
Some other tidbits:
From the Indianapolis Star, Brady Quinn might star as The Gipper. Interesting stuff, especially if Quinn, who has good looks and modeled as a child, decides to take the part. The last guy who played the All-American Gipp -- he became President after a successful acting career. But you got to think Quinn has a bit more athletic ability than the late Ronald Reagan. As long as they don't sign Charlie Weis to play Rockne, it'll be fine. A suggestion there, though, would be Robert Duvall. He seems made for the part and Duvall is a heck of an actor. Plus, he kind of looks like Rockne.
While we're at it, some other roles we'd like to see for Notre Dame players in remakes:
Tom Zbikowski as Rocky Balboa in the Rocky series
Defensive line coach Jappy Oliver in any role currently held by Steve Harvey. Check out the look-a-like there.
Those are just two that come to mind. You got one? Either e-mail us at mrothstein@jg.net or drop a comment in the box below. The best ones via e-mail will get posted here Monday.

Tommy Z could pick up the Hugh Jackman slack for Wolverine if they ever try to revive the X-Men movies from it's allegedly last (and horrible) installment.

there was a great post by Blue Gray Sky about who would fill the roles in a movie about the ND coaching search saga. It's linked on the side of the page. Funny read, especially their choices for Diedrick and Baer.

I want to see The Shark as a comical villian in the next BatMan movie. Use your imagination .. the possibilities seem incredible. Just picture that big smile with his pointy teeth. Just have to come up with a clever gimmick. How about the arch-BatMan? A guy who made incredible amounts of tech money (eg Google, etc.) who has turned to crime for excitement after the money wore off. He still loves to live a rich bachelor lifestyle, but he gets his kicks frustrating Bat Man. I think Jeff has the personality to pull it off in a big way, just like his penchant for making big plays. - JustIrish

Rockne was in his very early 30s when coached Gipp. I don't know that Robert Duvall could pull that off. Maybe bring in a former ND-movie actor in John Favrau.

I have this urge to see the Shark as Spicoli in a remake of Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

I think Zibby should play the role of Pat Tillman in a movie if they ever make a movie about him. He has the same type of attitude and size.

Michael "El Kabong" Coffey as one of the band camp extras in "American Pie Part 4."

How about Michael Rothstein starring as a real journalist?
