Cat Eyes

Hey Homco, I had the pleasure of sitting in lower 211 for Game 7...you are right...lots of yelling and alcohol! (not that I contributed to either...yeah, right!) Had a blast there! Keep up the good work!

Hit Somebody!!!

Karla, no offense here, but before you post that Legault is NOT in the Kings rookie camp...you better check your sources a little better. As well as Aquino being in the Tampa Bay Rookie camp. He is there too. Check your sources better than just looking at a pre-season roster on the team page and discounting what others have reported.

mightbite

Lots of fights in rookie camps & preseason.

Brandon

So...who let the cougars in anyways?

Cat Eyes

LOL!!!! Not a cougar yet, honey, but I'd take that as a compliment anyway...

bruce

well good luck on the ones that either move onto rookie camp or to others teams

hey cat or anyone, have you heard on what time they are playing hockey tomorrow at McM

Ashley

211 will be the best section this coming season! :)

Brandon

Homco, While 211 is up on the list...it's no match for 213!

JungleMonkey

Do Cougars find Monkeys attractive?

Cat Eyes

Bruce...nope, not yet I have not...I'm not gonna be there tomorrow, I'll be at the Ra concert at Piere's...have fun at the Mac for me, will ya? :) Tell your girlfriend I said hey, and your cutie daughter too!

Bruce...you are in 207, right? I'll be makin' the rounds this season...207 to see you guys, 217 to see FiveMinuteMajor, not sure where Wendy sits yet, Deuce is all over the place, another friend is in 225 (? I think that's what he said...right behind PC's parents)...I'll be one tired kitty during intermissions!! :)

Cat Eyes

We do if they are Hockey/Jungle Monkeys...especially ones who don't treat us badly on this blog...

:)

I'm talking with the Zambonis now to see if I can lure them out to play here...I need to see if anyone knows who to get in touch with at the Komets...the Zambonis want to send them (the K's marketing people) a CD and marketing package...anyone know who that would be there?

Anyone who has no idea what the heck I'm talking about, this band does NOTHING but hockey songs...nothing at all...the NHL used them in one of their commercials last year. Great stuff, especially "Fight on the Ice". You should check them out! I'm a way bigger fan of the newer stuff than the older...more rockin' the newer ya get. Gotta love a band that does nothing but hockey songs! And they already love the Komets, just because I bragged on MySpace to them...

bruce

cat...have fun at the Ra concert, good band

section 202 upper

mightbite

I must be old=never heard of any of those bands.Hope K's can sign Legault-Reiter-Curadeau.

Hit Somebody!!!

Hit Somebody!!!

Jungle Monkey...just for you...your new theme song...

http://www.thezambonis.com/media/kids.mp3

Cat Eyes

LOL!! I had never heard the one with the kids singing...the band normally sings it themselves, Jungle Monkey, but in your honor, I guess some kindergartners did this one? Very sweet...I guess cougars and their kittens like monkeys...awwww....:) OK, enough of that!!! Ya gotta go to their MySpace page and listen to some of their more recent stuff (I am not as smart as Hit, I don't know how to post the mp3s on here...), they are far more upbeat! Plus it shows that NHL commercial...

http://www.myspace.com/zambonis

Also has the band version of Hockey Monkey for ya, Jungle Monkey!

Thanks, Bruce...I plan to have a good time...I should get to meet the band...won my tix from the Bear and it was part of the deal, so COOL!! Took tomorrow off from work to recover, so I'll be having a great time...going with my silly sister, so it's a girls night out!

Not old, mightbite...chronologically challenged...LOL!! Just kiddin' ya...I cannot talk, apparently I am old too...but somebody likes me that way! :) BTW...gettin' the white Sharks jersey now too, I think...I'll let ya know later in the week!

Wendy

And then there's always the direct approach... :D Go get 'em, Cat! There is a lot of variety in the Zambonis' music. They've done everything from punk to country. And their version of "I Want to Drive the Zamboni" was used in the Will Farrell movie "Blades of Glory". Their songs are fun, have attitude, and are all about hockey. What's not to love?

You might check out the "listen" page on their official website as well. That's where mp3 links are coming from. And you can hear the theme songs they wrote for Boston ("To Bleed Black and Gold") and Bridgeport ("Bridgeport Sound Tigers").
http://www.thezambonis.com/listen.html

And I hate to ask because I'll probably have to kill Brandon, but what, precisely, is a cougar? Other than another name for a mountain lion?

Komets PA

Cat,

I've been a fan of the Zambonis for a long time and have all of their cd's except for the newest one. The problem with most music is that I only have a few seconds to play anything during a game. Even our busy intermissions don't give us much time to play a full song. I know the guys are from the East Coast and it may be cost prohibitive to bring them here but we can always try. You can use me as a middle man to the guys in charge of making decisions. My direct email is Larry@komets.com.

Hope all you Komet fans are having a good summer. It's been busy here and so far I haven't heard a timeframe for the new scoreboard. Just don't expect anything too spectacular as far as presentation from the beginning of the season. It will take a while to get things synchronized with the scoreboard and it's place within the game. Hopefully my buddy who does the Chicago Bulls and many other sports animations will get us some goodies that are Komet/hockey related.

Harbz

If the Zambonis came to play a concert in conjunction with a Komets game, I would definitely check them out. I knew that they sang the song "I Wanna Drive the Zamboni" but just a few weeks ago was the first time that I listened to any of their other stuff. They're different, but I could get into it.

Wendy...here is a link for some definitions of 'Cougar' on urbandictionary.com. Don't kill Brandon...I don't want to have to come and bail you out of jail.

Conley

Well with all the signings going on around the league, is the league signing any new referees? It would be nice to see some fresh faces with stripes on this year.

JungleMonkey

It would be nice to have a denfensive pairing with two hometown guys... We've got Warner... wonder if Dale Purinton is signed anywhere?

St.Chris

Good article on Anahiems' George Parros in this months USA Hockey Magazine.

Harbz

JM-
Not sure of the status of Purinton...but that would be a nice addition. A guy with some NHL experience, an understanding of the Komets' history, and a tough customer to boot. He would definitely add some grit to the backline. Also a good deterrent for cheapshot artists. Coach Sims is on record for saying that they need a good veteran defenseman since the departure of Kevin Hanson...Dale could be the ticket.

St.Chris

Bruce...we play @530 against Boudoir Noir tonite. Harbz...believe you wanted some league info, the summer league will be entering the playoffs middle of August.Fall league will be starting late Sept. and runs up to first week of April. If you would like all the updates, give me your e-mail and I'll have Wade add you to the list. Skill levels range from low "A" to high "C" which makes for some good hockey.

Hello

St. Chris,

Can anyone put a team together and join? Also are all games on wednesdays? Whats the best way of getting info just calling the Mac?

Thanks

St.Chris

Hello...Each league plays on different days, Putting your own team together has been done in the past, recently we've conducted a draft to balance the teams in skill level, calling the Mac and asking for the hockey director will probably be the best course of action.

brando

K-Wings big signing is Jason Tapp...

Brandon

The fact they announced Tapp at a McDonalds is just amazing

mightbite

wow=the radio station WRKR made it sound like it was a NHL great & they had the cup.

Karla Stranger

Jason and Bethany need prayers and support BAD now. Jason had a REAL bad night last night. The Drs. are very slowly taking Jason out of the coma they have kept him in. Now hes being able to feel more and in a state of panic when he wakes up. Doesnt know whats happening.

buttermilk

can't wait to talk trash to that donkey!

St.Chris

Will do Karla.

Karla Stranger

Keep Dale Purinton OUT of this league. He needs to be in a bush league. He ranks with Chris Simon. He was put on a 25 game suspension by the AHL last season for a brutal hit to the head.

I DIDNT double post.......HONEST!

Harbz

Interesting article Karla...thanks for sharing. I didn't know that he has had so many lengthy suspensions for his actions. Definitely something to consider when looking at a player I suppose. Though having a guy like him on the team would have helped a guy like Hansen when he got jumped in Elmira a few years back. I'm not into thuggery by any means, but I do like a hard nosed type of game. It might be walking a thin line if Dale was on the team. Tough call.

Conley

Welcome to the double post family Karla:) We are few, but mighty. Haha

mightbite

Bring on DALE=we want GOONERY!!!

Wendy

Thank you, Karla, for the update on Jason and Bethany. Things had been going so well that I hadn't checked it for a while. It does sound like all this is to be expected to some degree, but that doesn't make it any less difficult.

And thanks for the info on "cougars", Harbz. Of course I wouldn't kill anyone for comparing me to Demi Moore. :D

And on an ACTUAL HOCKEY NOTE, good luck to our boys playing down at the Mac tonight! So playoffs start in the middle of August? Goodness, I'd better get down there soon. I thought this was year-round.

Karla Stranger

Believe me when I say I am a hockey junkie...I subscribe to NHL Center Ice and my daughter and I watch on the average of 25-30 games a week. THE ENTIRE SEASON. When playoffs begin its madness around my house, I have Stanley parties....LOL. Once the season is over I have like 2-3 weeks to recouperate some and focus on baseball(although one of my least favorite sports..but a Red's diehard fan, love the Angels too..follow the Padres because they are the Wizards affiliate),before the NHL draft and FA signings(have it set on refresh to get up to the minute news). So when I talk about baseball on here its short lived like with nascar. As far as Komets in camps with the NHL, if I don't see names in black and white,I'm sceptical. So as far as Sims and Franke stating they were in camp,I missed those interviews. When I'm wrong I say I am wrong.I AM WRONG.Sorry.

Karla Stranger

Have you'all every tried getting the NHL Network? They show ALOT of classic NHL games AND play-off games from the prior season. Between that and the fact I have so many VHS and DVDs that are hockey related....I stay fed through the summer and don't need to say *IS IT OCTOBER YET?* LOL

Karla Stranger

Jason's had a couple set backs today.1st an infection has set in and 2ndly some of the grafts aren't taking like they should. According to Bethany, both are to be expected. But set backs just the same. They increased his sedation medication to help re-sedate him just a little. Its just so he rests easier and can heal more. Keep them in your prayers. Jason and Bethany need all they can get.

Karla Stranger

O.K. So Im eating crow.

JungleMonkey

Purinton has gotten suspended, as has every enforcer in the history if hockey at some point. It's not really that big of a deal. He'd easily be on of the toughest guys in the IHL.

Harbz

JM...it might be true that every enforcer has been suspended at some point in their career...but not necessarily to the extent that Purinton has. I don't ever remember Steve Fletcher receiving as lengthy a suspension as some of Purinton's. I also don't ever remember Fletch trying to gouge someone's eyes or pull their hair right out of their head. You can be an enforcer and not be a goon and get suspended so much. Purinton's actions sounded a little more goonish to me. Just my opinion.

JungleMonkey

I think the day has changed as far as suspensions go. Fletcher got away with a lot of crap that todays "hockey" doesn't allow...

Karla Stranger

JM....There is a HUGE difference between an enforcer and a GOON. An enforcer polices the net and defends his most important players. Not stomp on heads, pile drives heads into the ice or uses his skate as a deadly weapon. A goon is an ass and a menace on the ice.

JungleMonkey

And Purinton has never layed a pile driver on anyone, nor used his skate as a weapon...

Karla Stranger

Doesn't matter.....Hes STILL a goon and we don't need players being suspended like Henley did last year. We aren't known as a goon team and we need to stay that way.

Cat Eyes

Oh, well, if being a goon is a bad thing, then count me out...I thought it was more of a tough guy/chick sorta thing...LOL!! This guy sounds like bad news, but so do a lot of other players. I suppose if you look at some of the fights and listen to the commentary, EVERY team "cheap shots" and does stuff they should not. Momentum and testosterone and whatnot...but we definitely don't need anyone on the team who's gonna be tossed off and can't play. Dumb question...if that happened, say if he got booted for the rest of the season, could we then pick someone else up to fill that spot? Or are we just then out of luck? "Cause, much as I love the fights and all, I'd hate to see someone take it too far and actually hurt us in the long run! That's where my liking the fighting ends...it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye...or a Turner Cup...

OK, time for me to go back to bed...I'm waaaaay too old to be out till 3 am drinking this darn much anymore....holy cow.....not in my 20s, what the heck was I thinking???
