Since Rechlicz signed with the Islanders (like Acquino), does that mean there's a chance he could come here for awhile? It'd be awesome to see that kid in a Ks jersey

Brad

Here is an interesting article about minor league sports, with mention about the Komets. It's from the Times Bulletin newspaper over here in Van Wert, OH.

http://timesbulletin.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=6&ArticleID=146917

Justin Cohn

Interesting thought. I doubt it, though. Unless they determined he wasn't approprite for their AA affiliate. But if Pat Bingham continues to do the Komets solids, you never know.

gman

Brad,
First of all not cool to go on another newspaper site and post your story. I see their is a reason you work in Van Wert. Very poorly written article with flawed logic. These guys are professional athletes and many have skated in the NHL. Hodgeman will probably be wearing a Devils or Kings jersey next year. The Komets have been around for 57 years and are a staple in minor league sports nationwide. Do your research next time before coming to the BIG CITY and posting your garbage. BTW, I don't work for Fort Wayne newspapers so this is just my opinion.

threeblindmice

Let's not get ahead of ourselves on Hodgeman making it to the NHL. If he is lucky he will have a spot on an ECHL or AHL roster next year. And from there his chances of advancing are as slim as any other of the hundreds of players at that level.
That being said, jumping from juniors to the IHL to the ECHL/AHL in the span of 12 months would be a great accomplishment.

mightbite

Any know if or when the K's game will be on comcast ch.55=missed it last night & 5am this morning/I heard cry-baby sterling did not shake hands w/ K's players=I did not notice=if he didn't he is a TOTAL JERK!!!

JW

anyone have a konstantin shafranov jersey that may be weighing their closet down that they may wanna sell>????...hahahhahaah.ok that was a desperate attempt.

mightbite- i watched larry shake hands with players. not sure if he shook everyones hands but he did shake a bunch...he and hodgman had a small moment shaking hands and talking since they were jawing at each other the whole game. good season mightbite you grew on me buddy

CarrieJeanne

Who is this guy writing the article in Van Wert? And my god why are they letting crap like that be published? The article really had no intended point but seemed to be ramblings of random thoughts. It was also pretty ignorant if you ask me. Ask the 10,000 something fans that sold out the Coliseum and the others who stood around for tickets if they view our team as professionals, because I sure as hell do and I believe they would all feel the same. But really...does anyone know what point that article was really trying to make?

mightbite

Thanks-jw/I do have a Tsyplakov-Detroit Falcon jersey #14 black & once had Shaf.-Blues jersey.

Brad

my apologies about posting the article here. I am from Van Wert and a HUGE Komet fan. I was just trying to get others opinions on it, sorry to offend anyone. GO KOMETS!!

Justin Cohn

hey you can post to other stories just not the "competition."

chuckitt

you call that competition?

Justin Cohn

As far as I'm concerned, there is no competition. BUt no, Van Vert, was not who I was referring.

oscar the grouch

Wow, these must be the same "fans" who shouted nasty vulgarities at PH fans. Get a grip on it people. The guy wrote an article. He did not insult you or your mother. So what the heck is up with jumping down his throat?

oscar the grouch

Oh and not that it matters but did anyone in this league other than P.C. ever even smell an NHL lockeroom? If so I bet less than 5.

Jerad Shaw

Smell an NHL lockerroom?? Who in their right mind would set that as a goal in their hockey career. Ewww

RaVeN

I doubt if they're in to smelling as much as you are but I'll take that bet.

Ryne Gurney

I think Hodgman has the potential to be a stud in the AHL, and considering he's 19, he still has time to get much better

Wendy

I do wish all the 2007-2008 Komets players luck wherever they wind up. I cannot blame those who leave upon being offered better opportunities elsewhere, but it does hurt. Darn minor league.

And thank you for the continuing coverage of the Komets! It does help with the withdrawal symptoms. Here is something else that might help. I've just finished putting together a slideshow for the photos I took at game #5 vs. Port Huron on May 8. 32 in all, as it were. Sure, some are a bit grainy, but I think they are all interesting. So please check them out. :)

I should be getting photos back from game 7 soon. I also took a few candid player photos at the end of season party on Wednesday, so I'll probably be putting something up for that as well.

Kris

kometfan737, I would definately be interested in a DVD of the game. Please email me at hrdrumguy11@hotmail.com with info. PS. I would like the DVD a little nicer, with the case you were talking about.

greatwhitenorth

Agreed, the article was harmless. Thanks for posting different view points, some have forgotten about some of the freedoms we hold when it comes to press or media material. Once again, blasting the messenger proves the depth of some minds.

Jerad Shaw

Hodgeman really needs to rethink the Sweater though. Yikes!!!! I guess though being Johnaton Hodgeman, you can wear that and get away with it. Is he going by John yet?!?! :)

RaVeN

Is John a new nickname for Justin?

Mark

I think he is thinking about Jonathan Goodwin...since he scored in OT back in 2005 when the Komets came back from being down 3-1

RaVeN

Ahhhh

Andy

Anyone have the recording of Bob Chase calling the second Hodgman goal?

Nanci

Does anybody have game 7 on dvd?? I really want to get my hands on it. My e-mail is luckysun8183@yahoo.com and my number is 413-4385.

Btw, sometime this week, the CBS early show.. congratulated the Komets on their IHL victory!! I thought that was awesome!

mark

Andy-

Email me at Kmtshcky17@hotmail.com and I can give you the call by Bob Chase on the Hodgman cup winning goal

Jerad Shaw

Wow. Sorry. Not sure why I said John. Conley must have been on my mind!

Michele42

Speaking of other stories anyone see the story in the other paper about the little boy that had brain surgery the same day the boys won the cup? How touching and I heard the night of the auction, some of the players called to check on him! What a great group of guys we having playing for us!!

mark

Michele42-

I know the family personally, they are a great family. Some very good friends of mine.

Michele42

It was a very touching story! I was reading thru there blog yesterday, seems like they have been thru alot. I can only imagine what they must go thru. Seems like those boys are going to be fans for life! I saw some videos on their blog, one was annoucing players and then one of them playing kitchen hockey, so cute. I wish I could have got them Reynold's sweater. It went way to high the other night. Someone should do something awesome for them. It seems like they go thru alot.I read today that Renyold's was actually going to go to Chicago to visit them in the hospital. What a guy!!! Do they get to come home soon? Someone should get the Franke's to do something big for them, I am sure it was a good story and press for them...

Mark

yeah, those kids are great. I've known the family for about 8 years now. great people..

Bruiser

The Komets ARE minor league and to be honest VERY minor league. Even though I am proud of the team for winning, part of me (and I am taking the whole season into account now) just had a hard time with ONE successful team and five others that were seemingly barely hanging on finacially. The Komets are a big FISH in a very little pond and should compete for the cup EVERY season should things stay the way they are now. I just have a hard time taking this league seriously. The new IHL IS just a diversion to me whereas the KOmets of the old IHL was something to get very serious about. Again, that's just my opinion.

chuckitt

theres one in every crowd!

Wendy

Hmmmm... Looks like I'll be needing one of those game 7 DVDs as well. I thought I had it recorded, but upon checking it tonight, there are lines and distortions through a significant portion of it. :( I watched most of it while it was recording, so I don't think it was the feed.

Please contact me at myriadab@yahoo.com with info! Many thanks.

Joe Dirt

If any one wants a copy of the game (7) I can get you it on dvd. Just send me an email at jpn113@gmail.com with your address and I will mail you a copy of the game, I am only charging $10.

RaVeN

*cough* LAME *cough*

Joe Dirt

you want them for free? lol okey hb $5 is that fair enough?

RaVeN

Dear Mr Dirt.
I'm not stating this for myself as I have no wish to use any one's services in obtaining a copy of the game. BUT if you'll read through the posts you'll see that kometfan737 was kind enough to offer his services at cost in the spirit of Komet Kamaraderie.
Now, I realize this is a democracy but would you please explain why people would pay for a copy from a somewhat newcomer when they can in essence get a copy for free from someone that they've come to know?

mightbite

QUOTE THE RaVeN=enough said.Kitchner playing for memorial cup=GO RANGERS!!!!

komets123

RaVeN - Dirt didn't twist anyones arm yet. Simply offered a service. Take it or leave it. Jeez, throwing out the newbie and newcomer fight over someone offering a service that some might actually find thoughtful and valuable.

Not trying to fight with ya Raven.. Just threw me for a spin seeing your comment to mr dirt when he seemed rather respectful with his offer.

RaVeN

I respectfully agree with you, K's123. It's a free world and any one can make the choice for themselves. No disrespect was meant toward Mr Dirt and I apologize if it came off that way.

chuckitt

cant complain about a guy trying to make a couple of bucks when the frankes wanted to sell bits of melted ice for $15!!!

Jerad Shaw

Ding Ding!!! Nice Chickitt!!

Barry Frankeee

Who ever bought some melted ice, I am selling a batch of collected saliva from game 7 of the IHL Turner Cup Champions: The Fort Wayne Komets. $20 each. Hurry up and get them before we run out.

Jerad Shaw

Salvucci

The melted ice was $15...what an absolute joke...

Jerad Shaw
