Books, names and trophies
There has been much confusion out there regarding the International Hockey League record book. Is it blank? Or is it a continuation of the United Hockey League book?
The answer has yet to be determined.
"It's a decision the Board of Governors still has to make," said Paul Pickard, the IHL's new commissioner. "Will we begin with the 2007-08 season or inherit the old book?"
At least one newspaper, the Muskegon Chronicle, has reported a new record book is a done deal. Pickard and others within the league said no such determination has been made.
Personally, I have no problem with tossing the old record book simply because the UHL's bookkeeping from its early years was really spotty and points were often just doled out to get players famous. Start anew and do a better job of it.
Meanwhile, Pickard stressed that the IHL is a new league, not just the UHL with a new name. He admitted there has been confusion on this. It begs the question, if that's the case, then how can the IHL be having a dispersal draft of players Wednesday from a league that no longer exists?
It's a complicated matter I'm told, encompassing legal issues, the hope that the suspended Chicago franchise maybe enters the IHL and it'll help to make sure there isn't just a bidding war for free agents.
The only thing Pickard would say on that matter: “We want to make sure that all the players from teams who participated in the United Hockey League have some place to go."
Meanwhile, still no word on a championship trophy. They have investigated options that have ranged from keeping the Colonial Cup in its current form, changing its name or even getting the Turner Cup from the defunct old IHL from the Hockey Hall of Fame.
I say, if you're starting anew, send the Colonial Cup to the Hall of Fame and make something new and cool. Something like the Richard Brosal Wiretap Cup.

Ouch....Richard Brosal Wiretap Cup? Did you say that? Wow! Blakes would never ever ever say that...would he? He defended him over and over last year.
Are they doing this whole thing on the fly by the seat of their pants or what. Seems like there are lots of things that need organized before the first puck drops.
Does Port Urine have a lease yet? Last I heard it was still up in the air.
Why hasn't Mr. Savage explained why Toledo isn't in the league with a building that only takes 2 months to erect? He reports things like he is in the know...does he really know anything?

The guy that writes for the Peoria Paper put this on the Wikipedia site. Can he get away with this Justin? Calling it a Class A league shows his intelligence. He is a first class jerk.

I don't know all the ins and outs of Wikipedia. How do you know it's him? Eminian is, well, I'll bite my lip. Let's just say, he's not the most respected hockey writer I know about. But I guess they say the same about me, so, oh well.

It is on his blog where a writer asked him to do it and he said it is "Factual" now. He made that reply.
Look 2 and 3 posts down.

He is the only Jerk to make sure that this league is referred to as "Class A" Hockey. He is a horse's arse. Poor Horse that is.

Under the Edit feature of the Wiki site you can look and see who made contributions to the article. One person named PEORIA4440 I think it is made several. Someone on there has made an attempt to edit this by writing AAA and AA is not recognized by hockey like it is in baseball.

History Feature not edit...sorry

My suggestion: Go on there yourself and change it. Get other bloggers to help. Use my stories and site as reference that it is, in fact, Double A. There I said it. It is factual. The IHL is Double A.

LOL.....just thought it was funny that he has so much hatred and energy to actually spread his nonsense on Wikipedia as if he is the King of Minor League Hockey. He is a jerk.

I think you should Wikibomb it. C'mon Hit. You took the time to get on Eminian's blog. Put your name in history. I support you on this.

I think someone beat me to it.

I still don't like the low-level comment.
I am actually defended the new league. Look at me Skate and Chuckitt.

I find Wikipedia so confusing. Not to mention incorrect. When is someone going to make a Justin Cohn page, lol?

I found this after digging a little into who is making the statements on there...
Recent comments on page concerning new "IHL".
I did go overboard with a recent comment, RG, and I apologize for it. There is a writer at the Peoria, IL newspaper who continues to print and report incorrect information in an effort to slander the efforts of the group that has just purchased the rights to the old "International Hockey League" name and is trying to put it back together.
I've had to edit the page several times today, as he keeps coming in here with incorrect statements, mis-truths, and utter lies about the league.
I will watch my temper in the future, I'm guessing this page will be edited often in the coming days. The most recent edit I made is factual, and doesn't simply "cheerlead" for the new league, rather it tells the truth about what is going on and what has gone on.
Thank you.

15 comments down.
This RGTraynor guy is some sort of hockey guru that writes articles on the WikiPedia site. He must be the guy that fixed the IHL entry and made it more accurate from what I can tell.
Looks like Peoria Jerk Dave was Wikibombing the IHL entry. He is a Jerk I say!

sounds like half the city is powerless. 90% of my neighbors are without power. I am watching the cubs...lucky me.

I can't imagine anyone in the hockey hotbed of Peoria IL cares what is going on in the IHL.
Emenian's articles, then. must be designed to irritate people rather than inform. I'm sure he lurks in the shadows of this blog and gets a kick ou of every reference to his articles.
You'd think a legitimate sports writer, though, would take better care of the facts.
In the final analysis, does it really matter what he writes? I, for one, think he makes himself look silly by perpetratimg his one man vendetta.

Our protagonists appear to be hearing whispers from within the fortress walls. Perhaps 'tis well past time to quit the keystroke and reread Macbeth for summer school credit!

On a side note, Wiklipedia is not regarded as a source of information in the academic world. In fact, if we used it as a source in our papers, we were severely docked. I wouldn't worry about what is said on there.... just my thoughts...

It's also not considered a source in the journalistic world. Unfortunately, most people think it is factual. Might be a "source who wouldn't speak on the condition of anonymity" in some cities west of here, ahem, in Illinois.
