More Freedom follies
INDIANAPOLIS -- Back here at the windblown Speedway for the third day of qualifying -- it sprinkled a bit earlier, just to maintain the prevailing theme -- but first, a This Just In moment:
The Freedom apparently has undergone a coaching change. And when I say change, I mean a last-second change.
According to one of my sources, Willie Davis was fired today as the team boarded the bus for its road game. And the guy installed as interim?
The former coach of the former Freedom, Matt Land.
This isn't a train wreck anymore, it's a train wreck followed by an earthquake followed by a Category 5 hurricane. First the starting quarterback quits 30 minutes before gametime because, he alleged later, he wasn't getting paid. Now the head coach gets fired AS THE HE'S BOARDING THE TEAM BUS.
Clearly "a timely fashion" isn't a concept easily grasped around these parts.
And again I say: For this the Komets had to surrender Saturdays during the Turner Cup finals?
